The Epoxies

[Rise Me Up]

The Epoxies are a Portland, Oregon-based band. Their music is a modern re-invention of new-wave music. The five members of the band go by appropriately sci-fi-themed pseudonyms. They are:

Roxy Epoxy (vocals)
FM Static (keys/vox)
Viz Spectrum (guitar)
Shock Diode (bass)
Ray Cathode (drums)
The Epoxies' music is synth-heavy and beat-driven. The lyrics are often a clever amalgamation of romantic sweet nothings and futuristic paranoia. A strong example of this combination is in "We're So Small", a song about the final moments of two lovers as a hydrogen bomb approaches, featuring the lyrics, "Don't you worry baby, it's over in a flash / So hold me in your arms and put your lips to mine / There's nowhere we can run to, and we're running out of time."

Recently, they made a new-wave themed song for The Sims 2 Open for Business.

The Epoxies rock my world. For fans of Devo, the Aquabats, Adam Ant, etc. Uh...if you haven't heard them listen.

The epoxies ****ing suck so hard. they played with my friends band last week, and it was the most god awful show i'd ever been to! (apart from my friends band, www.myspace.com/attackofthe).

that show was the phenomenauts, teenage bottlerocket and the epoxies and my friends band. I couldn't figure out why the epoxies were headlining it, cause they suck. and ALSO why are they on fat wreck

i saw them live. they were opening for Against Me! now theres some good punk. well the epoxies equitment failed during the show. ill have to go and see them again to figure if i like them or not

I saw them a few years back. They're... weird. I was young so naturally being "weird" is just not hXc when you're 13 and still think Green Day are hardcore (as I did).

Perhaps if I saw them now I'd be a lot more impressed, I like bizarre bands.

I ****ing hated the epoxies when i saw them open for against me!, but then i went home and listened to them and they were alright. And IMO the singer is wierd looking but hot. And i saw an interview with them and they were talking about how they like when the crowd hates them, they thrive off it.
