View Full Version : This Is Hardcore 2006 Fest

Let's Chop Cats!

Seems like over the last few years our small world in hardcore has come to depend upon the summer "fest" as a staple of the calendar year. Records are release around them, bands set their tours up based on them and despite the headache and chaos each year we look forward to them. 2006 is a great year already for hardcore and yet with no HellFest (thankfully - remember last year!) and No Posi Numbers we are bringing forth THIS IS HARDCORE. Not meant to be a carbon copy of either fest, but instead a weekend of shows supporting the real bands, the real labels for the real kids to come out and enjoy. No big money marketing scam, no mall marketing, no pretentious pecking order, just awesome bands at an excellent venue put together by hardcore kids who are active participants in our scene YEAR ROUND.

Terror / Blacklisted / Death Threat / Righteous Jams / Cast Aside / Death Before Dishonor / Guns Up / Betrayed / Strength For A Reason / The First Step / Internal Affairs / Cold World / Triple Threat / Depression / Learn / Iron Age / Wisdom In Chains / Like It Or Not / Farout / Colin of Arabia / Set To Explode / Living Hell / Meltdown / Ceremony / Bitter End / Go It Alone / Know The Score / Attitude / Let Down / Van Damage / Brain Dead / Many More TBA ! (including more headliners!)

I probably wont be going to any of this cause the only band playing that I havent seen and want to is Guns Up! I'm low on cash from all these other concerts, but it should be a good 3 days. I can't wait for Pointless Fest. Caustic Christ and World/Inferno. That should be fun...

I'm going to be in Chicago when this is happening, anyone want to drive 12 extra hours and pick me up?

I've been getting alot of messages, emails, messenger pigeons (please stop sending those bc they **** all over my backyard and gave my dog gas...) and smoke signals.. After the fire trucks left my house and my dog got back from the vet I've decided to post the start times

Friday .. 6pm START
that means that the band is going on then.
i suggest you come as early as 5 or so if you dont want to get stuck in crazy heat in a long line on the sidewalk..

friday - H20 and Fearless Vampire Killers will headline..
show should end a lil after 11..

Saturday 12 pm START
I might add that if you are even awake and trying to see bands this early show up earlier then 12 so you don't get nasty sun poisoning sitting in the line out front..

Saturday- Terror, Death Threat and Righteous Jams will be YA headliners.. this will also end around 11...

Sunday - 12 pm START
if you managed to get in bed early enough to wake up for this, please rest assured the sun poisoning you dodged saturday may still be a possibility if you don't show up early ..

Sunday (our elusive mystery Guest) and Blacklisted will be the headliners....THIS SHOW WILL BE OVER AROUND 6 PM..
just in time for you kiddies to get back to wherever the hell you came from!!!!

be sure to check this page often as we are under 3 weeks to go.
we will be doing a final lineup announcement as soon as we can, as well as a per day ticket sales, per day lineup announcement to boot...

thanks for being as excited about this as we are ...
take care

I love how he tries to make it seem as if other DIY fests around the country suck because they don't have Terror or Death Threat on them.

Sorry but this fest isn't that great and I would rather goto Sink With Cali.

Consindering this is the only 'fest' on the east coast I'd say he's right.

Sound and Fury is better, but this is what I have here and it's going to be a fun way to end the summer. I only want to see 10 or 11 bands, but whatever. IRON AGE.

Sink With Cali > Sound and Fury > This is Hardcore

Not slagging on any of them.

However I do think its ****ing ridiculous how all of the big promoters, bands, labels, and every other hardcore kid in America are hyping up the latter two and yet they're giving what has for the past three years now been the west coast's premier fest - SWC - the shaft, simply because they don't like that the organizer spoke his mind (and rightfully so) during his band's set a year ago.

NewKindofArmy03

I don't think the SWC line-up is as good as S&F and This is Hardcore but the venue for the first and last days sounds awesome.

Exactly, the venue and the vibes are going to be much better than Sound and Fury. I had fun at S and F, don't get me wrong, but it had NOTHING on SWC last year.

Also, one of the things I like about SWC is that Al brings out really small bands that end up impressing the hell out of me. Sound and Fury was for the most part big bands that come through on a regular basis.

I really hope the special guest at This Is Hardcore is good. Leeway would be nice. Underdog would be nice.

Hopefully it's not Punishment or some ****ty band like that. Though I like Madball, the fact that they were the special guest at the Superbowl of Hardcore was kind of lame and I was disappointed.

NewKindofArmy03

That's the thing though, I, and I'm sure most people, wouldn't want to spend hundreds of dollars to go to a fest to see a bunch of small bands they haven't heard, regardless of how good they are. If I fly out to a fest I want to see a bunch of bands I know and love and can go nuts for. I could give two shits about the beef with Al Brown, but I'd rather go to S&F, and I thought it was better before I even had any idea I was going.

Burn- the last band we contacted and it was actually them that made us say **** it. no love lost to them but its going great and its less $ to put out for a band that kids may not be into

Leeway- could have, should have. AJ rules, he is doing FVK the first night, they didnt have a bass player and we will leave it at that

Converge- said no, they got a show here close to it

Killing Time- wanted to but took europe instead

SOIA- wanted to but took europe

Integrity- said no, then dwid couldnt get in touch with his band

Slapshot- Said no..

I'm pretty sure you could stay at my house. Just hook me up with a ride home since I know my friend is leaving early that day. I live like 20 minutes away.

And yeah, it looked like an awesome line-up on the flyer, but it's not as good as I thought. I'm sure it'll still be great though. Sunday I only want to see Blacklisted and Ceremony.

The airport is probably 20-30 mins away from the venue. You can take a train from the airport terminal to around where the venue is. It costs like $3.75.

I f'ucking hate driving in Philly. Got there late after crusing through the ghetto. 7:30 I get there, didn't have cash for the parking dude which was a lie because I didn't want to pay some random black guy 5 bucks for 'security', he let me slide. I walk in, show is running early (first time I've ever seen that happen). Deaththreat sets up, plays. Terror setups and then plays. Which means I missed RJ and CW, which sucks because I wanted to see them more than the other two. At least the two sets I saw were good.
