View Full Version : Anyone into Avail?
Because I'm not, and I want to be. They're the kinda melodicore I really dig. Plus Beau Beau has a secksy beard. I have "Front Porch Stories", and it's good. Recommend me more of their albums and describe what they sound like, please.

Over The James and 4AM Friday are your best bet. Anyone who likes Avail says that one of those 3 albums is their best. I agree with the secksy beard.

I have 4AM Friday and a couple other songs by them. Scuffle Town is my favourite song.

I love Avail, "Front Porch..." used to be my fav. record, but these days its gotta be "Over the James." The back-to-back "Scuffletown" and "Sanctuary" is possibly the greatest pair of songs since sliced human. Also, the slide guitar intro to "West Wye".... sweet.

No, I hate them.
Tim Barry's voice has really progressed during Avail's lifetime. But, by and large, their music has stayed the same. Their old records (4 AM Friday, Dixie, Satiate) are definately more gritty than their more recent efforts, though. All in all, Avail rule.

I just bought 4 AM Friday, and it's really good. I got the reissue so it came w/ their live album Live at the Bottom of the Hill, which is also very good. The quality is amazing for a live set.

All I know about Avail is that they played a show in my college town and the Fire Hall and after that show they stopped booking shows at the fire hall.
I don't think anyone I know likes Avail, but they've all seen them a few times.

I don't really know their stuff. But I saw Tim Barry solo a couple months ago, nice. Was scarily like country, but I know a fair few people who like country. He seems really genuine and modest and....nice.

Yeah, they're apparently good guys who make music. It's not the greatest, but that it's what they love to do comes across in the music.
