What have you purchased recently, and why? Did you buy it based on something you read, a commercial, the pretty pictures on the box, or is it a title that you've been waiting for a long time?
Did the game meet your expectations? What is your first impression of the game?
I've been on a binge lately with purchasing inexpensive games that have great multiplayer capabilities. Yesterday i purchased Puyo Pop Fever for the Nintendo DS. After checking out 6 stores, i realized Best Buy selling it for $9.99 was a steal.
The difficulty for this puzzle game definitely dropped my jaw. I can't remember a puzzle game where I lost 8 times in a row, with no hope of beating him any time in the near future. The game is basically like doctor mario on acid, in terms of strategy, and speed at which the computer plays against you.
I bought this game based on write ups, and its cheap cost. I think it was easily worth the 10 bucks and running around it took

I bought Hitman: Blood Money because the thread made it sound feckin' awesome.
So far it's met expectations.

I've been considering getting a Rome: Total War "Gold Edition" thing with the original and the expansion pack, or maybe getting Oblivion, since I saw it at my friend's house
Though I'm currently pretty poor

I bought GRAW for the PC the day it came out (hell, I preordered it), and I kept telling myself it was good. It's been out for over a month, and I've beaten the 2nd mission and played online like 4 times. It's just not the same. When I heard they were going back to the style used in the first, I got excited. I don't know why, it just doesn't feel right in this one. Everything is clunky. It's like playing Doom 3 in modern times. I guess that's realistic, but it's just not fun to me.

I've recently bought
Psychonauts and Jade Empire.
I was sold after reading the reviews and now all the original xbox games are under 20 bucks. Psychonauts is one of the most underrated xbox games ever.
EDIT: I guess it's more overlooked than underrated.

Silent hill 2: It was 10 bucks and I'm a fan of the SH2 series, this game still holds up although is is starting to show it's age.....also for pyramid head
Timesplitters 2: was only 30 bucks, one of the FPS for PS2 (IMO), I need a game I can pop in for a few minutes and have fun, plus I needed a new multiplayer game for when the friends are over.
Shadow of the colossus: Bought on a whim and has quickly became one of my fav. games ever, this is the most epic game I've ever played.

Although I havn't bought these yet, in the very near future I'm getting;
The Godfather (PS2) - This game is by far the best movie based game I've played. If you want to compare it to GTA the only thing it doens't beat it in is the driving and construction of the world itself. The characters, plot, combat system, etc are all better in The Godfather IMO.
Call of Duty 2 (PC) - I've been wanting to play more war shooters, however old people say they've been getting. Battlefield Vietnam has been doing it so far, but Call of Duty 2 seems a little faster paced, and I want something with an actual campaign/single player mode. Maybe I'll pick up a Medal of Honor chest while I'm out.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - I've beaten this game already, but havn't bought it yet. I love it, my favorite of the (PS2) series. I want to go out and get the special edition or whatever it's called soon.

The last game I bought was God of War. I got it a couple of months ago when it became a Greates Hits title. I got it because it was $20, it had good reviews, and friends told me that it was a great game. It was one of the few games that I bought without playing it beforehand. It was also one of the best purchases I've made in a while.

True Crime: New York City for the Gamecube
love it, the controls are a little hard to get used to, but its good to have a 'gta like' game for gc, but i think i like this more then gta, with the whole, good cop/bad cop thing

I picked up Brain Age for the DS not too long ago. It's great to waste 20 or so minutes just playing Sudoku or any of the other games on there.

2D GTA style gameplay is getting really dated now, it's funny how games keep trying to bring it back, it's not got long left

Moto GP '06.
My bike needs a new rear tire (nail) so I needed some motorcycle racing to keep me sane until I can ride again. Incidentally I had to buy a 360 to be able to play it.
PS My gamer tag is SK Farik if anyone else plays MotoGP.

I just picked up Metroid Prime Pinball for DS today. $10CDN at EB on sale and it was even sealed so no stickers on the case. For $10 it's a fantastic game and I now have the DS rumble pack which works with maybe one other game.

I bought NFL: Head Coach last weekend. Its a fun game if you're really into personell moves and fantasy sports leagues. If you dont like that, and would rather play football, like in Madden, then you probably shouldnt buy it.
I bought FIFA 06 a couple of weeks ago. I've been playing it pretty much non stop since. I've started a manager mode with Nottingham Forest. I'm winning the league so far, but I was bumped in the 3rd round of the League Cup by Manchester City.

the only games i even consider dropping money on anymore are DS games. but i don't have a job so i don't see that happening anytime soon. I'll probably finally get a job after Wii comes out and start buying crap again. the last game i bought was ffxi on pc back when it came out. :(
ds lite
new super mario
brain training which came free with it, and it's stupidly addictive :-/

Finally bought Half-Life 2: Episode 1 and a new computer which I also got to finally beat Black and White 2 on, and realized how badly the game was after all, I still want to get the expansion because I like the concept and can only hope they will get it right by Black and White 5.
Other than that, I bought Brain Age, Tetris DS, Oblivion, and New Super Mario Brothers.
Anyone else, over 18 (under too I guess) find the DS games just too simple? I mean Castlevania posed little to no challenge to me. Trauma Center left me stumped, so I will try that again soon, I think. Brain Age, Animal Crossing and Kirby Canvas Curse just became boring. Super Mario 64 DS and NSMB were too easy. I had 20 lives in NSMB without even trying much.
Ah well, they are decently enjoyable.
