Alright so i want an electric kit. I have one 2 requirements:
It doesnt have those crappy Bass and Hi-Hat triggers, i want the ones that connect to a proper pedal.
It has a module i can program electronic/techno sounds into.I have one other question. Can the mounting hardware be removed and attatched to my ICON with no hassle?

the higher level V Drum sets come with real pedal for a real kick pad and a real hi hat stand w/ 2 hi hat pads.
as for the ICON rack, i know the clamps are made for a circular rack, but i think if u got clamps for the ICON you could probably fit the tom holder into the ICON clamp
i can't comment on the programing though, because i have no experience with that

Thats what i meant, not use the clamps themselves but the L-Rod mounnts

yea, as long as they fit i think you could definatly use them. i think your best bet would be measuring the diameter of the tom arm you're using now, then goin' down to your GC or w.e, and measure the diameter of the roland tom arm

If you have a song on your computer in midi format and a midi usb interface you can plug that into your module and play the song on the computer while recording it on the module. You can pick the instrument playing on the mixer by changing the channel through which the midi is playing.

Is there any way that I would be able to use my own samples on a V-Drum set. I'm planning on buying the V-Tour soon, and have a lot of friends with awesome drumsets. Can I mic up and record their kits, and then use those as samples for my electronic one?

I'm pretty sure any module that comes with a mid-high level kit will have techno style sounds. I tried a Roland TD-10 and it had TONS of sounds... That shouldn't be a problem. :thumb:

In a word, no. The Roland kits cannot store sampled sounds, so youd need to trigger an external device to make it happen. This would involve a MIDI-USB interface, a program that sets up the assignments, and a computer fast enough to run it realtime (ie, not a PC)

Could you not use a SPD-20 interfacing directly with the brain? [or similar?]

I'm not talking about the kit itself. The module (brain) stores the samples, doesn't it? Otherwise, how does the thing make noise. I just find it really hard to believe that there's no way to store my own samples on that thing. That sucks.

You can store your own sounds on a sampler, right? Could you not run your pads or SPD-6/20/S into the sampler?
I think the DTXtreme allows you to input your own sounds.

Roland along with a few other companies offer expansion cards for their electronic kits, .. giving you more sounds, maybe you can find what you need on them.

So, I've decided to buy a Roland V-Tour Electronic drumset. However, I've found that you cannot import your own samples into the Roland module, so I've decided that I want a MIDI sampler. I've got a soft one (Battery from Native Instruments), but I'm looking for a box that I can import/record my own samples to, and then use my module's MIDI out jack to trigger the samples via the sampler's MIDI in. I'm not looking for anything special, as I'll probably have nothing more than guitar and piano samples on this box. Also, I don't plan to use it as a standalone, I only plan on using it with the drumset.
I was checking out the Korg PadKontrol online, but there is nothing mentioned about using a drum module to trigger it. Has anyone used this one? Would it be good enough? Anyone have any other, affordable suggestions?
Also, I have a question about MIDI. When I use Guitar Pro's drums, the MIDI numbers are 36 for bass, 38 for snare, 49 for crash, and so on. If I use the drums as a MIDI device, will it output the same numbers. Will the snare drum come up as a 38? I hope this makes sense.
Thanks
