ITT : explain what games you MUST have for DS, and why


Lost Magic : A must have RPG which incorporates a fast paced action strat game with the use of the touch screen. The mechanics alone make this game beautiful, and the ability to capture monsters a la pokemon style make its replay value even greater. With the WiFi online play, its a easily a must have title

I may be investing in a DS-lite when I get paid, has anyone got one, if so what are they like compared to the normal ds?

funny you mention it, but i JUST bought a DS lite roughly an hour ago. The looks alone on the new unit make it look AMAZING!!

im actually thinking about selling my regular DS, and buying another DS lite when the new colors come out :lol:

What's the difference between DS and DS lite?

the DS lite has a MUCH brighter screen (YEA!!!!), the microphone is placed in a much better spot, the stylus is bigger (which makes it easier to use) the system is 40% lighter, is 2/3 the size of the original, and also has a fantastic protective coating, which makes it look similar to an apple product (which someone here at work pointed out)

I'd enjoy this thread more if it was just a must have games thread, instead of being restricted to the DS.

Yeah they do look a bit like apples powerbooks. I think its supposed to make it scratch-proof. How you finding it then?

as far as the DS lite goes, im a huge fan. Like i said, the increased brightness makes it MUCH easier to play in the day light. The smaller size makes it look pimp IMO

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - one my favorite adventure games in so so many years.

Mario Kart - if you liked any of the others, this one is by far the epitomy of what this series can accomplish

Metroid Prime: Hunters - little bit of a learning curve but a long enough single player game to hold you over if you dont have wireless, but if you do, then you will love the first handheld online multiplayer FPS.

Kirby: Canvas Curse - like any kirby game, unique and lets you use your mind rather then just randomly pushing buttons, in fact, only the stylus is used for this game.

Advance Wars: Dual Strike - Turn Based Strategy game at its finest.

I picked up a DS lite on the 11th, had a dead pixel on the touch screen so I had to exchange it. :sad: Futureshop was great with exchanging it no problems whatsoever. I bought New Super Mario and Mario Kart, both are fantastic fun. I picked up Brain Age a few days ago and it is very fun as well. The DS may be one of the greatest systems I've purchased. It's up there with SNES quality for good gaming.

Although I have no experience with it, I've heard that Ouendan is great fun, it is an import though. Trauma Center looks fantastic, as does Castlevania. Animal Crossing is supposed to be great if you have WiFi. My buddy picked up Meteos and it is one of the greatest multiplayers I've played, addictive as hell.

I'm looking forward to Starfox DS, Phantom Hourglass and Yoshi's Island 2.

meteos has to be the most amazing puzzle game ive ever played. The problem is, it really takes a long time to get good at the game. My problem is the gap between me, and a noob is huge, and they hate the game relatively fast, and refuse to play it again


I have both castlevania and animal crossing. Castlevania is fantastic if you are a fan of side-scrolling adventures like the old one.

I found animal crossing to be boring. It really all about materialism. Thats the only thing that keeps people playing for so many hours. "I NEED THE CABANA DRESSER!?!?"

Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime, Pokemon will be when its out in september (my how those games pwn). Erm Phoneix Wright is similar to a hospital game which is also on the DS which I've forgotten the name of.
Oh and Brain Training which has stayed in the japanese gaming charts for 18 months or so. It really is a revolution in gaming and can be described as even a 'none' game.

The Opera web browser for surfing the internet ( even though its not a game )
Sonic Rush; Ive been a huge sonic fan since genesis came out
and the new Zelda game, the graphics look terrific

I'm considering buying a DS Lite to play this (obviously i'll pick up other games) and just want to know if it's any good.

actually, i own the new super mario brothers, and i must say, the multiplayer is superb. You can either battle mario versus luigi, or you can play 20 some mini-games with one another. The 1player mode is too easy, but i think all side-scrolling mario games are easy
