View Full Version : Top 25 EPs of All Time: THE LIST!
Brain Toad

Here it is, after 2 weeks of voting, we have reached the list of the Top 25 Punk EPs of All Time.
I didn't bother with blurbs because they take forever to get in and really there isn't much you can write about an EP. Though if someone wants to run a blurb thread, and collects blurbs for all 25 EPs, I will edit them in.
Without further ado, here is the list!

It's so tiny it does seem kind of pointless.
Oh well. The list surprised me.

I think the Decline did so well just because it has the novelty of being 18 minutes long.

But yay for "Nervous Breakdown" being pretty high.

i really dont think NOFX's new EP "Never Trust A Hippie" should of been on the list at all. i mean, there are so many other countless great EP's that beat it. How was D.O.A.'s "War on 45" not even on the list at all? for shame....
but yah, im happy with the top few results

That so worthless. NOFX should not have beaten, Black Flag, BOTAR, Against Me!, Chokoing Victim, Leftover Crack or Minor Threat

Probably because people from the Pop-Punk forum and other forums came in and voted for NOFX.

Right. It couldn't be because NOFX actually managed to write an 18 minute song that's actually good, and that people respect that accomplishment.
I hate how fashionable it is to hate on bands.

Actually if you look at the votes the only a few punk regulars voted The Decline.

Okay, still a few punk regulars did. I just think it's nerdy to assume that the internet is rigged just because a really good song by a poppy band placed high on a poll. I mean, credit where credit is due.
Besides, hadn't it been the "cool thing to do" to hate on NOFX, more of the punk regulars probably would've voted for them. In fact, I'm willing to bet lots of money that everyone who voted for DK hasn't necessarily even heard "In God We Trust, Inc" - they voted DK because they know it makes them cool.

Hey, I'm not saying NOFX did'nt deserve to be high. I would have voted it over DK. I'm just saying many of the regulars around here voted DK or Black Flag and that if we we're doing a Punk Forum only poll (Which would have been unfair) NOFX would'nt have been close to winning.

And I hate when people assume just because people agree on disliking a band, it's suddenly because it's fashionable.

But seriously... something must have gone on, seeing as clearly nobody here voted for them. I mean maybe your right FatPete... so ok if you voted for NOFX come forward. There is no shame they are a good Punk/Pop (If not the best).

I hate how fashionable it is to hate on bands.I actually really like the Decline, it's very impressive. The other EPs just really shaped the way I view punk. Notably, Nervous Breakdown, and Crime.

Good list. Crime wasn't high enough.
12 ****ing 3...I love that album. But all of the top ten were really good...the entire list was really good actually. I just got #1 on vinyl today!
I think I voted for NOFX lexluther...
And I hate when people assume just because people agree on disliking a band, it's suddenly because it's fashionable.
Well, that is the reason though. Either that or "d00d nofx are totly poppunk" which is a just as asinine reason to think it doesn't deserve its spot on the list.

Yeah, some of those EP's are to be considered important, but judging on how well the music is written, performed and generally conceived, NOFX is up there. Which is why it's lame to see "punx" hate on it and call shenanigans.

Or how about, that they actually thought the other EPs are actually better  shock and awe! Opinions!

Well which ever way you look at it NOFX fans where the magority. And which ever way you look at it NOFX fall under a subgenre of punk. So there can be no complaints.
Just friendly debate.

If Kid Dynamite - Rise Above isn't #1, then the list will suck.
Or how about, that they actually thought the other EPs are actually better  shock and awe! Opinions!
Yes, some people do. Then again, some people don't. Those people didn't start complaining about DK beating NOFX. See my point? Why is it that whenever NOFX (or any other slightly poppy punk band) is brought up on this forum, even if it is a relevant context like a vote on the best EP ever, lots of users (even regulars and mods) feel the need to make it a point to bash them? Because it's the cool thing to do on this forum, to prove that you're punk enough to dislike a generally well-liked band. I think that's lame.
For the record I think it's cool that DK won, they're good. But "The Decline" is an impressive EP, I would've picked it for the win.

I think the next list should be the greatest punk covers of all time. I volunteer to run it.That would be a good poll to do next, since cover songs have been synomical to punk music. But the list would be ridden with medicore Me First & The Gimme Gimmes covers.
