I've been listening to them a lot latley. They're probrolly one of my favorite Technical bands. Fused Together In Revolving Doors is a great album. My favorite song of that one is Dreaming In Dog Years. Clients was a bit of a letdown and I used to not like it at all, but its grown on me to the point that I think its a good album. My favorite song off of Clients is Antman. Discuss The Red Chord.

I've never got why so many people like this band. They really don't do anything that hasn't been done before and better.

They are cool because though they aren't original it is tons of fun. I also like the fact that they were co-founded by a guy from Hassan I Sabbah, though he is in Unearth now :\

They aren't very technical. They're decent, and put on a good show. I've seen them three times, which is a real feat for someone living in Eastern Kentucky.

Clients is fun god damn it, it was no where near as good as Fused Together... but still it wasn't pure breakdown **** which everyone makes it out to be.

I live about an hour from Knoxville, and about an hour and a half from Lexington.

They've been to Huntington three times, I only got to catch them once. I plan on seeing them with Unearth on an Ozzfest off-date that is scheduled here in August. They're ok.

Oh, sounds like the same time to Nashville :\

For you, it would be about the same distance to Nashville, and Nashville has much better shows than Lexington. Nash is about three hours for me.

Funny story that's not name dropping:
The singer's name is Guy and his mom is a driving instructor around here. She gave me my road lessons.
Anyway, eh, I'm not a big fan of them.

Truth, I know that if Lexington was a shorter drive I would just head there.

Love this band.
Clients is a good album, it just takes some getting used to. So brutal.

Care to support this position? Red Chord were doing this long before the whole deathcore trend hit.

I'd put them more as an attempted tech death metal band since I hate that whole 'deathcore' thing and I just think there are so many better bands playing that style of music. Bands that came both before and after the Red Chord. Anata, Cryptopsy, Dececration and Goratory just to name a few off hand.

They have lots of sweeps and riff changes and they play a far more technical brand of music than most metal bands do.

Then what do you call Technical??

Do you know what a time signature is?

Yes, and simply writing in odd times doesn't make you tech. These guys have some tech attributes, but not nearly enough to call them tech death, or tech metalcore, or tech anything. Plenty of bands are technical to some degree, but you can't just slap the label onto every single one of them.

They're also much more straightforward than Cryptopsy and Anata (I haven't heard the other two so I can't comment). I don't know, I wouldn't really group them in with those bands.

Grouping the Red Chord with Cryptopsy is illegal.
