The First Step and Betrayed. These are the only two bands that I honestly get angry when people like them. They write the most boring, contrived, generic, shitty music I've ever heard. They're seriously terrible. Plus, The First Step are diddlers and Aram thinks people care what he has to say.

The First Step is awesome. Clearly they are generic, but I'd listen to them over some crappy band like Floorpunch or Ten Yard Fight any day of the week.

Betrayed is best when they don't sound generic. The last song on the 7" shows promise, and their guitar riffs are pretty cool. I'll definitely give the LP a listen.

Kasey, I've seen them. They're terrible on recording, they play moderately tolerable live, but anything cool they do (like cover Dag Nasty) is cancelled out by Aram reading half of Atlas Shrugged in between songs.

The appeal of Betrayed is the nice intricate guitar melodies they used on the split, which I don't think is generic at all. The EP's another story, obviously, but its still tolerable.
