Im look for a new bass amp, iv had a look at roland fender and behringer, but i want other peopls opinions on it..
I need a loud amp, around 300 / 400 watts, 4x10 speaker, preferably with a tweeter, and cheap.. Around £200 if possible, and portable/.. It doesnt have to follow those exact specs, there just guidlines..
Anyideas?

So basically your ****ed at that pricerange.
4x10 cabs cost more than £200 usually and even if you did find an amp it would have an awful tone.
Either save your money or look into fender rumble 100, plenty loud.
Remember watts do not = volume so don't even go there with me.
Anyways why have you only looked into 3 brands, i wouldn't go with behringer they have a sterile nasty tone and rolands don't get good till you go high end.
Either save more or look into the fender rumble 100 or a second hand peavey combo.
£300 is around $160
What the **** are you on about, £300 is more like $500 but americans get music gear much cheaper than us in england.

Um, not quite
According to www.xe.com/ucc (http://www.xe.com/ucc) the going rate is
200 Pounds = US$ 369.700

I say GK backline. Some people say they are hit or miss and I used to think that, but I just bought a GK backline 600 (300 watts) and got it for $250 american. (but it had a dent)
Look for used gear. Check it for any type of defect, and if it's fine, get it.

If you really want a 4x10, I highly suggest just buying an amp and cab seperately.

hey
you could get a laney r4 ???
which is a 300 watt 1x15 combo
around £300
then if you want later you could buy cabs to match such as the r410 or 4115
i have the laney r4 with the laney r410 and f**k it sounds nice =)
but then again every opinion difers

Well in order of price i would say it's (cheapest to most expensive)
Behringer-Fender-Roland.
I would say Roland is the best but they are somewhat pricy.
Behringers are really cheap..but i haven't heard the best on them..

The plan is to get an amp to handle smallish gigs ( 200 people at max) and then save up for a kick *** cab and head. Perhaps a trace elliot, or SWR.. ideally an acoutstic 360 if i can find a place that can get hold of one.
in fact.. thinkin about it all i need is a cheap, loud amp.. Tone shouldnt be a problem, im not that botherd. Itll be a year max..

There's an Ashdown amp(I'm not Sure which one) that's 307 watts. SquierBasser got one for like 600$, but you can get the one with two speakers for cheaper.
EDIT: The MagC210T is 500$(two speakers), The magc410T is 600$(four speakers), and the MagC115T is 360$(one speaker). Find it right here (http://www.zzounds.com/prodsearch?cat2=3720&form=prodsearch&cat=2396&ob=pop&submit=Filter+Results)

You should just save up until you have enough money to get a good amp.

Get a used Laney rb7, 300 watts. I think those our popular in the UK, so it would be easy to find.

My 120 watt, 1x12 Laney has had no problems handling gigs of various sizes. If I were you I'd look into the R5 (2x10, 300 watts, around £300, although I think it's now been updated with a new name), otherwise get something smaller to save more money for buying something bigger. I also can't stand Ashdown, but it's all personal preference, after all.

I never liked ashdown either, not because of how they sound or anything like that, i used to HATE Warick and Ashdown just because everyone had one  now i want a warick and im looking into ashdown. :smoke:
I know wattage isnt everything, but i'm still a bit worried to buy a a "loud 120 watt" bass amp, and it wont be able to handle the gigs im doing...
I need to try some out though.. THen ill look see
