i kno ur not supposed to play a bass on a guitar amp, but will it hurt to hook up a bass amp to a guitar cab?

Most likely the speakers will blow.

I dont think it matters if you hook a bass up to a guitar amp head as such, its just the speakers that get damaged. As far as I know:

Guitar Amp + Bass Cab = fine
Bass Amp + Guitar Cab = not fine

PA system will be just fine because PAs are hi fi for the most part.

And a guitar cab would be fine also as long as you don't turn up too loud. People are too scared to use guitar speakers. It doesn't sound that great, but they aren't going to break unless you push them too much. Think about it, guitarists use octave pedals that lower the sound a whole octave, a bass is an octave lower than a guitar. It's all fine as long as you don't turn up too much.

Pa's can handle vocals or keyboard and therefore they can handle bass, thats why its safe to di or mic a bass amp.
