All right the challenge for this week is to create a song based upon one of the four images below. When you enter, be sure to cite which image you based your composition off of. Rules are...
- Multitracking is allowed (encouraged by this point)
- Effects are allowed
- Instruments other than bass, including the human voice, are allowed so long as bass occupies a prevalent niche in the music
- Entry must be under five minutes
Here are the images, with thumbnails and then links to the englarged graphic.

EDIT: Well f*ck me, that is the image...
EDIT 2: Ok, so it isn't the image.
I don't believe in covering my edits. :thumb:

Alright, here's my entry, "Inversion," based off of picture number two. I chose it because of the strange coloring (making it look almost too vibrant or too colorful) and the camera angle, which almost makes it look like the world has been turned upside down. In short, I just got an eerie vibe from it. Hence, the title and mood of my song. Hope you guys like it. :)

Oh, and sorry it's so quiet. I'm still working on my recording skills.

that's pretty sweet. the bassline doesn't seem as prominent as it should be, but out of this context that song is really cool and matches the picture.

Hey Almighty Pancake, I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but what equipment do you use to make those drum beats and effects? How do you do your recording? You write some really cool stuff and I'm interested in expanding my recording options (right now, bass and Audacity aren't really cutting it...I had a keyboard, but even that broke on me).

The beat was insane, not so sure about the bass though.

Yeah, there wasn't much rhyme or reason to the tracks. I just kinda combined random things, and hoped it came out okay. I'm gonna redo it though.
As for how I do it, I record bass into an Edirol UA25 USB interface using Quartz studio free, then mix and add effects and drums using fruity loops.

I kinda was inspired with both Image 3 and Image 4 with this one, but moreso Image 3, so I'll say that. I used three different kinds of bass for this one - my upright, my fretless and my 7-string.

I'm not sure of the rules, so I thought I'd go ahead and ask here...is it alright if I scrap my previous entry ("Inversion") and enter a new song I'll have finished before the cutoff date? I want to work with something involving a drum beat, so I'd pretty much have to completely redo the song (or just make a new one). If that wouldn't work, I'll just hold off until the next comp.

The randomizer is a neat little tool on Fruity Loops.

It was like, 200 bucks at the VA beach guitar center.
btw, you can find the actual project for that drumbeat on my soundclick now too. It's not done/mixed yet, but it should give you an idea of what I was working on before i just took the beat.
