I'm sorry, this is kinda like a cop-out for me, but I'm at a loose end creatively.
There's a melodic part in one of my bands songs, which at the moment is me just rooting.
E |--------------------------------------------
B |--------------------------------------------
F#|--------------------------------------------
B |---12----12--------7-------7---------------
Now, to me that's ****ing boring, and I want to spice it up, especially just before the guitar solo, which kicks in during the part.
I've tried:
E |---------------------------------------------------
B |------------13------13-----------------8-----8----
F#|--------12------12------12----------7----7-----7--
B |----12---------------------------7-----------------
but it doesn't really fit.
Anyway, see me as a cheater, all I really want is to make my music more interesting.
Thanks you very much in advance

Recording? It's hard to know what to write when you don't know what the guitar is doing.

Yeah, I realise that, I don't have a recordind I'm afraid, and I'm not sure of the time signature, but the rythmn guitar is just doing powerchords

one thing i like incorporating into my tapping is holdin a chord shape with my normal fretting hand, and tapping other notes with my right hand. Then just pulling off on certain notes, and if done right gives a really full sound with the chord coming from the notes that are pulled off

^ if that made any sense, if not i'll try explaining it more later

No, I uderstand, it's a good idea. Thanks man. I'll go home later (I'm at work) and give it a try.
Another idea I had that's similar to yours is to hold the chord, but tap the harmonics. What you reckon?

i like playing around with tap harmonics... maybe incorporate both in?? moving between tapping the harmonics and tapping other notes to be pulled off into the same chord?

Sounds good.
Do you reckon you could write up an example? I almost understand what you're proposing, do you mean polyrythmic tapping?

yea a lil bit, could you tell me the chord progression of the guitar and other things for me to get a feel for the song? now i'm gonna run and get the bass quick to see what i can come up with

G#|-----------------------------------------------------------------
C#|-----------------------------------------------------------------
E|------------------11-----------------11------------8------------------
B|-------12----12------------12----12-----------7--7-------------------------
F#|----12----12------------12----12-----------7--7---------------------
B |-12------------------12-------------------7----------------------
Sorry, it's a very basic method of showing you, but with out a recording I'm basically useless
hellonearth, thank you very much, you've given me a number of new ideas I wouldn't have thought of :thumb:
