Alright well i waited 3 months for this gods damn drumset to come in... don't ask me why it took so long. (really don't, i don't know why...) But it is amazing!! One of the best drum sounds i have ever heard i can't wait to reskin this baby. I havn't really tuned thewm much as i havn't had much time latley but they still sound freaking sweet...
Well anyway here is some audio: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pageartist.cfm?bandID=465320 it's called drum screw around...
(I made that up on the spot so don't critisize it unless u have something good to say lol)
And here are the pics:

that thing is sex on legs. Did you order the whole thing, hardware and everything? I'm thinking of getting a saturn when my rockstars outlived it's day.
I'm personally not keen on the colour, but then again, some people don't like the colours of my kit, so, meh, everyone has their preferences.

Well i had all hardware and stuff from my old kit and i ordered the studio set or whatever then added the bass and 8 in ch tom. Im still getting used to the flying dragons feel cuz they direct drive so my double bass is a little off in the audio.
oh and my cmaera is a peice of **** lol. This color is ****ing AMAZING looking in person. And the audio is recorded through some head phones i plugged into my mic input on my computer, so it isn't the best quality.

It glitters in the sun =D
As little as this probably means, that is one incredibly pretty set-up. And I mean that in the least girly way possible.

why not take the aux bass drum tom mount off? the audio sounds sweet.
I played a saturn with a 26" bass, 14" tom, 16 and 18" floor toms. It sounded nice

Beautiful kit dude. I'm lovin' the finish. You should be proud of that bad boy. Enjoy it. Hey, your audio wasn't too bad either. Sounds rushed in parts but I enjoyed it.

I was thinking about getting a Mapex Saturn in the future but I'm not exactly sure what effect the 2 plies of walnut interior have on the sound. Could you post some audio? It would really top off this thread since we know how awesome your kit looks already. :thumb:

saturns are great sets. you need to swap out some cymbals though. ditch that zbt at the very least
also, your high tom looks out of tune from one picture. looks like there are some wrinkles on the bottom of the head, but it just might be the picture

Beautifull, My saturn kit comes in this week! I can't wait, i got the same studio set up as yours yes!
I was thinking about getting a Mapex Saturn in the future but I'm not exactly sure what effect the 2 plies of walnut interior have on the sound. Could you post some audio?
It gives a lot more punch in the low-end, and very cutting overall.
BRI - Nice kit! But 3 months is not a long time to wait. In fact, its at the quicker end of the scale for a production run Mapex kit. What has happened is that the supplier you dealt with didnt have the kit in stock, so theyve had to get it made in China for you and since your supplier may only order internationally every quarter, youve waited till the next shipment arrived. (3 months)
The wait is irrelevant once you have the gear, just ask me :)

Yea like damo said the 2 inner plies of walnut really add some low end and a lot o fpunch to the sound punch. And if u look in my first post there is audio already up there.

Yea cymbals are next on my list once this is payed off. Ill be going with an aa medium ride to rreplace the zbt and 16, 17, and 18 aaxplosion crashes most likely. Oh and i looked at the 8 inch tome and it's just the picture that makes the tom look out of tune srry about that.

The set looks amazing. I really like the finsih, and I don't usually like the glitter finishes. How much did it set you back?

Reason why it took so long is its a new finish for 2006, and it sometimes takes a while to put out new products after NAMM. Console yourself though, Pearl Custom orders take up to 6 months.
Great kit, love the finish

i got everything for around like 3,000. I probably could have gotten it cheaper but i bought it from a small company id rather give them the money then some big company like gc or something.
