Title says it all. Fill out the poll to chose the genre for HIM
If you wonder what this is about, have a look here (http://www.sputnikmusic.com/muse.php?museid=916). ANd don't post stuff like "They file good under suck". That does not contribute or bring this forward in any sense. Chose one of the listed genres, and tell us why please.
Poll's open for 5 days. Vote away! :thumb:

I think people need to lose the stigma that's attached to the word 'mainstream'. Even if HIM aren't a pop band, they've clearly got a cross-genre appeal that earns them much commercial success.

Mainstream rock, they have turned into a radio rock band from what I can tell.

Definately mainstream rock. They are very poppy with their influences, but still somewhat heavy.

I've not heard this band before, but obviously this is serious business. So I sampled them from my music service. 5 albums sampled in all. And going in completely cold and with no preconceived notions I can safely tell you this is a ..........Hard Rock band. And a fairly standard one, at that.....

Wings of a Butterfly hit no. 1 on my local alt/rock station. And radio rock=/=being played on the radio. Look at Queensryche for example.

To me mainstream rock is Bon Jovi and John Mayer. Matchbox Twenty, Third Eye Blind, etc. This doesn't sound like that stuff.

Most of what you mentioned is pop rock. Mainstream rock is really poppy hard rock, which is what HIM is.

Is that what it is? I just can't get with all this genre hair splitting. It drives me crazy. I guess we can agree they all play guitars, amirite?
I hope so...:(

I voted Alt Rock because HIM is Alt rock. They may have a little gothic in them, but when it comes down to it they are very similar to alot of the bands in the alt rock genre who have things like slow, loud, strong guitar parts, unique dramatic breakdowns, and usually slow verses like 10 years and Chevelle.

Personally, I think pop rock is to alternative what mainstream rock is to hard rock. Thats just me.
And they don't play guitars, they play suck lolol. But no seriously, if that guy hadn't gotten all pissy, we really wouldn't be here. Most people seemed fine with where HIM was, and I don't think too many people noticed underoath had been moved.

I'll never hear these bands again in my entire life so I'm cool with it. I say we put them in Country & Western and be done with it....

It was no. 1 on Fuse's countdown show and I believe it was on TRL.

Voted Mainstream Rock. "Killing Loneliness" is actually doing pretty fine for itself on MTV2 and they play sold out stadium shows with 300,000+ people in Europe.

Since there was no Love Metal or Death Metal category I had to go with Mainstream Rock.
Just call em rock and shut up about it. I can't believe that this has been turned into that big of a deal.

Alt. Rock.
Although they do have mass appeal, i think they are different from most mainstream rock bands [namely because of their language and subsequent vocal stylings].

Definitely mainstream rock. I caught fire made a big deal, and he didn't accomplish anything.

I'm voting mainstream, as i've just never seen anyone that loves himself as much as Ville Valo. He loves the publicity and he would be nothing without Bam unfortunately.Him will never be able to escape the clutch that is mainstream rock, so stick their Scandinavian asses under Mainstream.
Alt. Rock.
No way! It's all the same! There's not a bit of metal here, hard rock there, punkier tracks anywhere...... All the same. Very tame and depressingly bland rock music.
