You know what I learned today? According to the page adverised on my gmail account, drum lessons are a waste of time! I could've saved money and time with 80 free lessons from icanplaydrums.com (http://www.icanplaydrums.com)! I expect to become pro within the week!

I have been getting those Big Drum newsletters for ages now. They are rather crap.

Haha that's pretty funny.

Though there is a TON of good stuff in those free 'lessons'.

Lol I get the big drum newsletters too

Some of them have been quite intresting and helpful. Although it just kinda feels like the guy who is writing it got lazy as it went on and they have got as British Boy said rather 'crap'.

To sign in on the site, the password/user name is 'drums' , log into it and see what you guys think heh, I don't know how many of the links in there still work anymore but have a look.

For those who are just beginning, and like trying to self learn it is a reasonably ok site, and I suppose the product isnt too bad an idea. The free lessons bit is like useful for those kind of people.

A few of the vids have been quality learned some cool lil grooves and fills from here.

But meh thats just me.

EDIT: made the mistake of not reading the whole thread and seeing that the username and pretty much that paragprah had been said lol

All the links in that section I have tried work. There's a lot of stuff written out, I can't comment on his commentary, wich may or may not be good. But as far as just written out grooves from a wide variety of things.. there's a ton of stuff in their.

Far more grooves and fills written out then the Tommy Igoe section on VicFirth.

Yeah that was really awesome

I really should of looked at learning that when that issue was around. (if anyone could point me in the way of that It would be greatly appreciated)

I suck at the concept of a half time shuffle

Funny, I made the thread, but when I got the password, I actually found some cool stuff. Unfortunayely, it's a horrible site layout, way to much text, and their marketing strategy sucks.

yeah, his little video introduction convincing the user to sign up made him seem like a bit of a tool....but after checking some of the stuff out with the password, it doesn't seem all that bad at all..

Know what made me laugh?

"As I've taught over the years I've realized that unfortunately, in many situations, 1 on 1 teaching, books and videos can be flawed - here's what I've found..

1 - If a student cant read music or fails to absorb fresh information quickly, I have to try and play AND point to the music at the same time.. try doing that with a 4 limb exercise!"

Now heres what it should say

"1 - If a student cant read music or fails to absorb fresh information quickly, I should probably be trying to teach the kid how to read music!.. Try doing that with a 4 limb exercise"
