Alright, so I've been looking into drums for a while now, and I've decided what I am looking for in a drum set as far as features go. Basically, I would really like a set with rim suspension tom mounts. As for wood I would like Mahogany or Birch if i could afford it, but as for basswood, its supposed to be the poor man's immitation maple. But I wouldn't mind it, because right now I'm tone deaf as hell to drum sounds, so I probably couldn't tell the difference. I am the complete opposite with guitar. I guess it just takes time to build up. I was thinking of one of the many ludwig accents because it has the rim suspension tom mounts I liked, and apparently the hardware is decent considering it comes with the kit. I also liked the ddrum diablo because one of the finishes really appealed to me, plus I hear a lot of good reviews, and it comes with two cymbal stands, and a free extra 5x10 snare, which is a plus. I was thinking about the EZ because, even though it doesn't have rim suspension tom mounts, It is supposed to be a good kit for the price, and I could go all out on cymbals if I wanted to, along with getting a roc n soc throne. Lastly, I really was considering the PDP FXR with shitty hardware and cymbals, because it is made of birch and it has the tom mounts I like. Here are the sets:

So out of the above options, which would you get? Also, with the 5x10 snare that coems with the ddrum diablo, would I need something to mount it? Or would musiciansfriend already think of that and include something? I am also open to other options. All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes, Pandadrummer is probably right, in that even though you're tone-deaf now, you shouldn't turn down a deal like that. I'm pretty sure it's just a shell pack, so you're paying more though....

Anyways, I've always thought that more money should be saved for good cymbals when getting your first kit, but that's just me.

Ludwig Accent CS Combo, get it off ebay. I got one brand new from massmusical I think it was, with B8's. $350. Ask people who know what they're doing to help you tune them, even the stock heads can be made decent. Not good, but decent.

Only go for Accents if they are CS Elites. Remember, it must say ELITE in the name to get the birch shells, and it's $599, only a hundred more than the ddrum, but with much higher quality.

The only thing I would even suggest replacing on it is the snare, it has little versatility, but still sounds pretty good.

my friend has this set in the jazz configuration, and I tuned it for him, it's really nice, sounds along the same lines as an M Birch
