sorry if this is in the wrong place but i need help. Im doing a project for school and i need to know what kind of music was around toward the late 70s and early 80s (this can be really general like bands or popular genres). Also i need to know more metal bands in the 80s and how the genre began. If any one can help me out or point me to some websites that can help me i would appreciate it. Im already checking google so please dont say that. thanks

Check out Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Judas Priest if you're looking into the origins of metal.

Man search wikipedia and you should be able to get heaps of information on this.

Many acknowledge the Jeff Beck Group with one of the first proto-metal songs, before Zeppelin (who are widely acknowledged as one of the forebearers of metal/hard rock) with "Beck's Bolero." Read up!

I guess this depends on how late into the 80s you're doing, but you should dress up as Dee Snider and talk about the glam metal for a bit :p.

Ok i found most of the stuff i needed for the heavy metal section (thanks to the person that recommend wikipedia). I just need help on late 70s and early 80s like how they changed or stayed the same. basically how music was and how it became in those time periods.
