I'm from Jersey andyes, NJ has a huge emo/post-hardcore scene. Unfortunently, i dont like that type of music at all and there is no punk scene what so ever. Some good ska tho..

The only semi-famous band to even come out of pittsburgh is The Clarks, thus causing a huge wave of imitators, and ruining every possibility of any type of music in pittsburgh. Oh, an Anti-Flag is from here, but theyre awful.

Greenhouse for being jazzy and creative and extremely talented. No other band rocks a trumpet like these guys. I would pass out a link but the song they have up is not representative of their crazy jazz/ambient/distorted awesome sound.
Overall, Twists is my favorite. Absolutely great when I saw them, and the drummer/singer is sweet. http://www.purevolume.com/twistsslugsandroscoes
(They're from Needham, MA. There's no scene in my actual town at all.)
