Straight through...

I figure this would make a good thread, but will probably flop like my others-(:()

So basically just tell/short review if you wish, of an album you last listened to most recently striaght through.

Me:

Dredg-Catch Without Arms

Top 3 Tracks
-Ode To The Sun
-Bug Eyes
-Jamais Vu

Overall
Great band and album, just recently started listening to them a couple months ago, highly recommended by me :) 9/10
---

skip this guys :p

Blaze Ya Dead Homie-1 Less G N Da Hood

Top 3 Tracks
-Juggalo Anthem
-Str8 Outta Detroit
-Grave Ain't No Place

Overall
Another one of the rappers I like, probably on my top 5, maybe 3, most people won't like it, but I love it cause I'm sweet like that. 9/10

Green Day - American Idiot

top 3 tracks:
Give me Novacaine
St. Jimmy
American Idiot

Overall:Good album, good band. Though a little bit different to earlier stuff still very similiar. Tells a cool story too.

Spill Canvas - Sunset & Car Crashes

Top 3 Tracks
-the Tide (Obviously)
-Black Dresses
-All Hail the Heartbreaker

Overall
After listening to One Fell Swoop, I had to go back and listen to their debut. To be honest, I really prefer S&CC to OFS. It's just....unbelievable. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

(But you can't trust my recommendations, cause I'm the guy that sent in the Paper Chase and Legion of Doom on the mailing list.)

This is pretty much exactly like the What Are You Listening To Now? thread, but I'll let this one go for a while and see how it does.

June - If You Speak Any Faster

Top 3 Tracks:
- Patrick
- Speak Up
- Elevators are Matchmakers

Overall:
Awesome awesome band. The lead singer delivers the words differently, instead of letting out a higher pitched sound he uses his throat to give a deeper tone to the band. This is what mainly gives the band a more unique sound from others. Bass guitar really does a good job throughout, which adds more to the originality. Guitars are average could be a tiny bit better because they mainly play chords and hardly any melody.

Minus The Bear - Menos El Oso

Top 3 tracks
Memphis and 53rd
Pachua Sunrise
Hooray

Overall
Goofy song names aside, this is a serious band with seriously awesome music. The lyrics and vocals always make me nostalgic and the music makes me wanna hit the dance floor, or maybe just chill out and smoke some pot. Very mellow

Various Artist-A Tribute to Blink 182

Top 3 Tracks
-Going Away to College
-Time To Break Up
-Anthem Pt. 2

Overall
I wish more of the tribute albums were like this, good for fans of Blink, for others, not so much, but I really like it. 9/10

Houston Calls-A Collection of Short Stories

Top 3 Tracks
-The Better Part of Valor
-Exit, Emergency
-Bob and Bonnie

Overall

Saves The Day - Sound The Alarm

Top 3 Tracks:
-Head For The Hills
-Eulogy
-Dying Day

Overall a very solid album. Quite different to thei older stuff, but with Saves The Day, that's not really a surprise. It has a nice raw sound and all is put together really nicely.

8.5/10

Angry Balled Fists!

Taking Back Sunday - Louder now

best songs:

spin
makedamnsure

AFI - Decemberunderground

Best songs:

Summer Shudder
Love Like Winter
Endlessly, She Said

The entire thing is so solid. A couple songs that remind me of their old stuff and the rest is a natural progression from Sing The Sorrow. Lots of cool electronic touches and poppy hooks and there's a couple of 80's moments!

Transplants - Transplants

Top Songs:

D.J. D.J.
Quick Death
California Babylon

So many people dislike the transplants in here, but I love 'em. I see why, to be honest, they aren't even close to being anything like pop-punk. I find this album great to drive to, it just keeps moving on and works well as background music (for me, anyway).

7-8/10

That album is so good, I'm not sure if I could say whether I like OFS or S&CC more they are both unbelievable albums. I love The Spill Canvas. My fav songs off that are The Tide, The Night Will Go As Follows, and Sunset and Car Crashes.

Elliott Smith - Figure 8

Top 3 Tracks
- Son Of Sam
- Somebody That I Used To Know
- Junk Bond Trader

Overall
One of the best songwriters ever in my opinion, and this album really shows how great he can be with just him and his acoustic guitar, with other instruments occassionally added in. He used to sing/play guitar in Heatmiser, and a lot of bands cite him as a major influence. Amazing musician.

EDIT :
This isn't his best album, and is perhaps one of his weakest in fact.
I'd give it a 8.5/10.
Be sure to check out some of his stuff if you like folk/rock/acoustic music.

Forgive Durden - Wonderland

Top 3 Tracks:
Beware The Jubjub Bird And Shun The Fumious Bandersnatch
Il Tango Della Signora Frencesco di Bartolommeo di Zanobi del Giocono
A Dead Person Breathed On Me!

Overall:
An amazing debut album that blends original lyrical concepts with a traditional pop-punk sound. A nice blend of different themes and musically orgasmic.

Brand New-Deja Entendu

Top 3 Tracks (no order)
-Okay I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't
-Guernica
-Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades or I Will Play My Game Beneath The Spin Light can't decide.

Overall
I haven't listened to this album for atleast a year, I usually listen to YFW, but I really glad I finally listened to it again, any one who hasn't heard it, listen to it. I need more acoustic artists/albums like this one, but still nice electric. 9/10

For A Dreamer Night's the Only Time of Day is such a good song. But ya overall incredible album.

Rage Against the Machine- Rage Against the Machine

Top 3 Tracks:
Know Your Enemy
Take the Power Back
Bombtrack

I don't praise the album anywhere near most people do. It's very repetitive, especially Killing in the Name.

British Kid

Motion City Soundtrack - Commit This to Memory

Top three tracks:
tough, as i love this whole album, but i'll go with

-Everything is Alright
-Time Turned Fragile
-Better Open the Door

This album is overall, just a good one. However, there are a few songs that seem "out of place" on this album, that either don't belong on this album or "with" MCS. Both Resolution and Together We'll Ring in the New Year suffer from this. Most people will find something to like on this album.

Personally, I'm in love with the track "Hold Me Down." The chorus is absolutely brilliant.

Those 3 tracks you listed are probably my 3 favourite RATM songs.
Know Your Enemy is such a good song.

Tool - Undertow
Best Three Tracks:
1. Sober
2. Bottom
3. 4 Degrees.
Overall: 2.5/5.
Nowhere near as good as the other Tool albums, the songs are more straightforward rock than progressive.

They sure are. But for the album, I'd give 3/5 just because it's so repetitive.

RATM is awesome, I just started listening to them a week or two ago.

Angels and Airwaves-We Don't Need To Whisper

Top 3 Tracks
- The Adventure
- A Little's Enough
- Valkyrie Missile

Downs
None for me.

Overall
I really still love this album, probably on my top albums of all time. At first I thought it was meh but have been listening to it a whole lot since, all the songs are really good and well done, it was hard to pick top 3, I love all of them, even if Tom is a douche. 10/10

Punchline - 37 Everywhere

Top Three Tracks:

Saves The Day - Can't Slow Down

Top Three Tracks:
Deciding
Three Miles Down
Always Ten Feet Tall

Downs: can't complain

This record isn't nearly as catchy as their others in my opinion, but it shows the potential that was shown on Through Being and all their other preceding albums.
