Kiss, Queen, Def Leppard, and Judas Priest.
Do these bands deserve it?
Discuss.

I'm not sure about def leppard. I'm pretty sure there's at least 1000 bands you could honor before def leppard. Queen definitely deserves it, without a doubt. Kiss is amazing and they deserve it despite a lot of people who hate them. I just think there are a lot of better choices than kiss. I don't know many Judas priest songs, but they could at least honor someone that we know for sure is better such as the rolling stones. My problem with this whole thing is that they will always stick to honoring hard rock bands. I don't think they will ever honor the greatest band ever, fleetwood mac.

Priest and Queen really do deserve it. Def Leppard were never that great and Kiss just sold Kiss products more than they played music.

It probably won't come as a shock to most that Vh1 will honour the bands that people who watch Vh1 like.

People assume an old band is automatically good. Of course they have hit songs but that doesn't imply talent.

ARGGG, I hate mainstream television people trying to explain what they think 'rock' is to the mainstream public.

Stop talking down too me :(

They're doing it because they know it makes money.
Without money, a capitalist society like this would not be able to function.
And all the music you hold dear (and even all the music you don't but might at a later time) would have a much harder time reaching out to listeners like yourself.
It's a compromise we have to live with.

I think Priest and Queen definitely do deserve it. They did some awesome performances at the show.

I have a hard time coping with some rich blonde woman telling me how much she loves a genre she has no idea about.

I know.
Just don't take it seriously.
You'll live longer :-D

They're not. They're honouring people they and their audience look up to.

If she can pretend well and she does it topless, sure why not.

But shes wearing clothes.
Crappy pop bands paying tribute to you should be an insult. They couldn't get anyone better?

I've heard that blonde scream in her high pitched annoying voice 'Def Leppard' about 12 times.
It's more annoying than Def Leppard itself.

What's everyones problem with VH1? I watch that channel sometimes and that doesn't mean that I only listen to mainstream crap. Also, howcome every time a TV station has something like this half the forum has a conspiracy theory that it's only for the money? Maybe they might actually like these groups. :amaze: You guys say they only pick the "popular groups", well don't you have to be popular to have made an influence?

Not at all.
I'm influenced musically by Gorerotted...I wouldn't describe them as Popular.

I'm talking on a bigger scale. In order to influence millions of people like these bands have done you have to be popular, it's a must.
