yeah, ive played it. its a really nice bass, and i really like the tone out of it, its a really fat, punchy tone. it looks really pretty too.

When I played one just after a Stingray it felt weak and inferior.

its like fenders attempt at a stingray, but as above stated, it feels like an "attempt" its a good bass, and the sound is quite powerful but it has too much of a low end stingray feel to it for me

Haha, funny...since Fender owns Ernie Ball and all. Right?

i think fender originally designed musicman basses but it belongs to ernie ball now, which is not owned by fender

i have no real basis for that statement, but i'm pretty sure i heard it somewhere, at some point. so there's a 99% chance i'm wrong. let's see!

Ok, here we go.... Leo Fender started Fender and created the Pbass, the Jazz bass. He then sold the company to CBS. Next thing he did was create Musicman and the Stingray basses. He then sold MM to EB and started G&L and designed the L2000 basses.

OK:

It's Clarence Leo Fender.

Fender does not own EB nor G&L.

The Big Block P is good but the Musicman Stingray does everything the BBP wants to, but way better.

In conclusion, if you want that tone, get a Stingray.

Fender History:

Clarence Leo Fender started Fender a while ago. He sold Fender to CBS in 1965 and stayed on as a consultant until about 1970ish. MusicMan corporation was making amps and wanted a guitar line. Leo had a non competance clause in the sale of Fender which stated that he couldn't make guitars for 5 years after he left Fender. Well, he basically designed the Stingray and Sabre basses in 75 and Musicman built them under his guidance. Leo oversaw every part of the construction of the bass, and since it had the MusicMan label on it, he wasn't in breech of the contract he had signed at the time of the Fender sale to CBS. At this time Musicman was NOT owned by Ernie Ball. They were their own seperate company. Musicman was also Never owned by Fender Corp or Leo Fender. After some bad blood between MusicMan and Leo, Leo left to form G&L with his friend (and co founder of Fender corp) George Fullerton. This was also at the time that his Non competance clause with CBS ran out, so he could put his own name on his instruments again.

That's a brief history of Fender, MusicMan, and G&L.

Don't treat me like an idiot, especially when you engage such behavior yourself.
