i bet hes not as horrible of a bassist as everybody cracks him up to be. the music they play just calls for what he plays.

That's true, but I'll need an article or a link before I believe this.

This is a joke, there is no way it isn't.

i'm almost positive that he doesn't respect the instrument enough to do that. this isn't bashing him or anything, but i'm pretty sure he preffers guitar over bass, so i don't know if he'd really be up to it, or even know about the fact that bass can be a solo instrument.

No...this can't be true.

/SüP is at the ready to eat his own foot upon confermation.

EDIT: Why in HELL is this exciting news?

seriously, hes been playing bass for how long. he cant be as bad as everybody cracks him up to be. hes a really solid rooter, so why shouldnt he be able to slap. he probably wants to just showcase how much better hes gotten since blink 182. i bet he can slap and do all that stuff just fine, i mean, bass is his job. why would he close himself off to all other forms of playing his instrument? i would actually like to hear the album before i knock it and say its total crap.

It's just that Mr.Hoppus and Blink 182 have such a negative conotation around these parts ("these parts" being defined as the bass forum).

yeah, but think about it. im sure he didnt pick up bass and say, "man i want to be known for my root noting, and pick playing", im sure he knows how to slap, and he probably knows some theory and i bet hes got some chops. i just wish that people wouldnt knock him so much, i mean after all, he has brought alot of people to the instrument, much more than are willing to admit it. i mean i dont like blink 182 at all, but hes gotta have some chops, he cant be just root noting and laying in the pocket.

i cant wait to hear this, lol. i admit i am an old blink fan but never had to much respect for hoppus as he never really showcased his playing (exept maybe in carousel) so yea he allways would just play with the guitar and now he has a signature bass by fender and if this news is true then he must be rather good.

just as a side note, hoppus didn't write the bassline for carousel... i have a feeling this is going to turn into a huge hoppus flame-fest.

Me too. Until I see an official announcement, I find this hard to swallow.
I'm not saying it is for sure not true, and I am prepared to eat my words if it is true, but I doubt it at this point.

How do you know? (Don't read that as being pugnacious, I am legitamtely curious).
Does it say in the album's liner notes or something.
