evenin folks, couple of questions regarding future purchases.
1) is the geddy lee jazz a worthwhile purchase? for the money, is his sig a sensible purchse, or would i be better going with another J at a similar price?
2) when geddy lee uses his overdriven tone, like on Earthshine for example, i know he uses a preamp on which he turns up the gain, but failing that, could a Boss ODB3 be a suitable olternative? or does anyone use a bass overdrive that would be effective?
Thanks, Brodiebear.

Wel if you have the ODB3, I suggest simply fooling with it until you find a tone that you feel works, cause I'm sure it would.

i definately prefer the geddy over a normal jazz. i like the slim neck/tone alot.
jazz 24s are pretty good too if you decide to try out different options.

TO be fair, for that price you are unlikely to find anything better.

the geddy lee bass is sexy, plus has one of the more common jazz bass upgrades in the bada$$ bridge, along with a slimmer, nicer looking neck with the black block inlays.

I was considering a Geddy before I got my 'Ray. They're MIM, yeah?

I dunno, because the Marcus Miller bass is nearly the same price as it. If I could get my hands on one that wasn't a lemon I'm sure I'd be impressed.

I once planned to buy a Geddy Lee jazz, until I went for a completely different option and bought a Corvette. But Geddys are really really nice basses, especially for the price.

i'm gonna assume that if the geddy sound is more your thing than the miller, then the geddy is probably best bet?

well no, they each have a different sound, it was a pretty close call too but I ended up taking the marcus for looks and feel....i seemed to get more comfortable with the miller's neck than the geddy
