I absolutely cannot believe that we do not have a Staind thread. I just realized this. So having said that, some people love 'em, others hate 'em for various reasons. Here's some basic facts:
Aaron Lewis: Vocals, Guitars (except on Tormented)
Mike Mushok: Guitars, Vocals (only on Tormented)
Johnny April: Bass, Vocals (on Tormented and Dysfunction)
Jon Wysocki: Drums
Tormented: 1996 (out of print, most intense, heavy Staind album)
Dysfunction: 1999 (mainstream debut, rerecorded MudShuvel)
Family Values Tour '99: Live cut, early version of "Outside" feat. Fred Durst
Break The Cycle: 2001 (breakthrough album, chart-topper)
MTV Unplugged (dvd): 2002 (Amazing performance, surprising as well)
14 Shades of Grey: 2003 (album of change, critically acclaimed, fan criticised)
Chapter V: 2005 (newest, strangest Staind album to date....perhaps the end?)
Lewis also made a guest vocal/guitar appearance on "Bleed" by Cold.
Terry from Cold made a guest appearance on Staind's Unplugged set.
So there you have it.........feel free to discuss anything related to Aaron Lewis or Staind.

I hate them for being generic and bad music.

I don't like 'em. In their early days there were better. After hearing that 15 shades of gray album, I stopped listening.

That's what i hear from a lot of people. Fans worship thier earlier ones, but can you fault Lewis for not wanting to repeat the "I hate the world" crap for all eternity?

So do I, actually, although Aaron's vocals on the first two could have been better, as well as the production. I'd like to see a Staind album fusing the music of Tormented and Dysfunction with the vocal clarity and overall production of BTC and 14SOG.
I have mixed feelings about Chapter V though.

ok you can take dysfunctional and tormented out becasue they r just too different

different=better, at least in this case.
But, we can talk all day long about how one album is better than another, but I never hear anything specific from people other than "Tormented is heavy" or "14SOG is gay radio sh*t". That's what annoys me. Nobody ever actually discusses the music itself.
I hate them for being generic and bad music.

Lemme sum up staind, since you need enlightening
Guitar- Bland, Talentless, Boring, Rather unoriginal, repetitive.
Bass-Nothing special or intersting
Drumming- Nothing interesting, just fills space
Vocals- Aaron is an average singer. That's all. Yes he can sing, but he's nothing to start jumping over.
I rest.
I have their first four albums. They're brilliant. Songs like 4 Walls are so full of emotion (for lack of a better word) and they're just great.
They're one of those bands that you can't listen to all the time, but you have massive binges over. They are good times.
EDIT: 'eh, I'm Charming's elitist opinions ITT.

I just noticed how terrible my spelling/grammar was in that post
This really doesn't belong in R&M even.

He has a point there though. Their live preformance is great. They were the first band I saw live actually, just after the release of Break the Cycle. Saw them again after the release of 14SOG and they still rock. I'm not to big a fan anymore but I listen to Break the Cycle sometimes and it still is nice to hear. I like the vocals alot and even if Mike isn't the most technical guitar player around what he does fits perfectly.

Mushovel is great live, as is Spleen and Crawl.......i went to a Staind show a few years back and they played the original "MudShuvel"--it was great.

**** you dumbasses. Staind is a great ****in band. Aaron Lewis is an amazing songwriter. He is using music for his own therepy. It's real. If you'd actually listen to their newer songs, you would realize that it's still real. He doesn't make **** up. It's too intense to be made up. Chapter V is a great ****ing album.

Aaron Lewis is an okay vocalist. He's not as good as people say he is but in this style he's one of the only enjoyable ones. Actually now that I think about it, Shinedown's vocalist is the probably the best in this style of singing.
