Which one, DFH or Fruity Loops?

I'm really just messing around, perhaps it'll come in handy later.

Fruity Loops. DKFH isn't a program. I've downloaded it now, still haven't listened to the samples, but according to Moses they're good.

And to clarify, Fruity Loops isn't the most versatile drum sequencer, but it IS probably the easiest to use. Just gets on my nerves how you can't do duple and triple note groupings in the same song.

Shattered_Future

I love DKFH, but there's too many freaking samples.

Plus, you have to be REALLY dilligent with it in Garageband, or it ends up sounding like complete crap.

What's up with the Yousendit links? The chick corea ones just take you to a yousendit page wanting you to sign up and send a file.
I wish everyone would stop using yousendit. Megaupload or Sendspace works so much better.k
Whoever upped the Chick Corea, please put it up on something that works please. I would really like to hear the thing.

Can you suggest something better than fruity loops to do the programming in? I just need to create the midi but I need to be able to quantize to something besides sixteenth notes. 32nd notes and triplets would be nice. I got BFD for the samples. I just need a big grid so I can lay out my patterns :p

Do you have Garageband? That basically allows you to make the notes however long you want.

Anything by Johnny A.

I saw him last night with Joe Satriani and I thought he was better than Joe.
Joe was still good, he just got a bit boring with the way he ends the song the same every time, Satch Scream, holds it while pulling a face, gets some feedback then lifts his guitar in the air and brings it down while playing a chord.

There's Acoustica Beatcraft, which is what I use. It's a lot more user-friendly than fruity loops, and it can do triplets, sixteenth notes, with a bit of effort you can get quintuplets and groups of seven, nine, whatever you like. Most people don't like it or use it, something I don't understand, but I think you should give it a look.

Im currently uploading:
Medeski, Martin & Wood - End of the World Party (Just in Case)
Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros - Streetcore
Iron Maiden - Alexander The Great (Greatest Hits)

If you enjoyed Chick Corea, you will likely enjoy End of the World Party. If you don't already know, its a really expirimental jazz fusion, very catchy and abstract, while still maintaining that jazz feel.

Hey Oz.
It seems I've been booted from the mailing list....?
No worries, I understand why...basically though, recently I've been up to other things, and havent gotten around to uploading music... I've been busy with other things, that I didn't even realise that I wasn't receiving the upload lists for more than a week...
However, I've looked through the request lists...and there are at least 3 albums that I can upload over the next 2 days. So if my email (the_hymanator@hotmail.com) could be please be added again, it would be much appreciated, and I'll make sure that the Shpongle, Necrophagist and whichever the third album was, get uploaded soon.

Also, could you someone who has been recieving the albums please email to me the recent uploads of Les Claypool....much appreciated.

As first album Forgotten Tales isn't very good because it has alot of covers. Nightfall is their most respected album, telling the story of the Simarillion (LOTR story) with alot of symphonic and progressive elements blended into their powermetal sound.

Can you suggest something better than fruity loops to do the programming in? I just need to create the midi but I need to be able to quantize to something besides sixteenth notes. 32nd notes and triplets would be nice. I got BFD for the samples. I just need a big grid so I can lay out my patterns :p

I use Rhythm Rascal. There's a full trial version on their site. The only thing is that you can't export the file, but I just mic it and it works fine.

It works really well, you can set the tempo for each pattern, not just for the whole song, as well as using 32nds and triplets.

Anyway, give it a shot and let me know how it works for you.

I'm thinking I should upload the new Ordo Draconis double album, I doubt any of you have heard it, but it's incredible. They're an Avant-Garde Black Metal band, not unlike Arcturus, but with more orchestral elements, plus they're a lot weirder at times, which believe it or not is a good thing. I still prefer Arcturus, but not by much, so yeah, if I upload it, I'll probably put Part 1 & 2 in the same file even though they're technically different albums.

Thats what I was thinking when I saw this album. It just came out earleir in 2006, and when I saw it I thought I might have confused the two artists. I later found out from a ska-crazy friend that it is actually Streetlight Manifesto's rendition or cover of Catch 22's Keasby Nights, track by track.
Same frontman and everything, but at the end of the final track "1234 1234" Kalnoky has a little spoken speech... it's like a hidden track.

you could always do another mega issue before you leave.

It doesn't really bother me though, since I don't download from it all that often.

Hmm yes A mega issue would be a good Idea. 20-30 albums maybe. Although I havent even been downloading anything from it anyway.

I just wanted to let you guys know that there will be no daily upload going out June 30-July 9. I will be in a lakeside cabin with no internet. When I get back on July 10th, I'll start a thread for July. And I'll send out htis info in the emails too so no one is surprised :)
Nice timing. I'm away around that time too.

Same here!

Lots of good uploads, it's a wonder how you guys can keep pace. I mean, I'm still listening to Sikth. I'm starting getting used to the vocals.

Thanks a lot to Daven for At the Soundless Dawn, I already know that I'm going to love this one.
Also thanks for the Trivium, and once again the DT.
Another Audioslave will be an interesting spin as well, haven't got to listening to the new one all the way through.

Edit: Woah, how did I miss that. Huge thanks for Acceleration.
Everything I have heard from Age of Silence I am loving, so I'm really looking forward to this.

I agree with the mega-issue, and no one filling in while Oz is gone.

Have a good trip, buddy.

Seconded. I like the idea that was thrown out about "digesting" everything we have recieved in the last 19 days.

And yes, above all - have an awesome trip!
