So after i posted i talked to someone from warmoth... they said it wont work with my Mexi Jazz(Its a 5 string so everyone knows)

So i went to my local lutheir Dave Manella (he's done good work from me in the past, he got me a new neck from fender for free, no charge) basically we talked and he said he could get it on my bass, but the amount of money it would cost, i could buy an american Jazz, and it'd be very worth it... he even said by a Victor Bailey and put the neck on that...

i was already to give up when... i remembered warmoth made bodies (actually i believe all 3 of us did). So i asked about mahogany, and he said the woods rather lifeless, and i he gave me proof. i played a Bass he made from mahogany... and i must agree... it sucked... then he had me play a Walnut Bass, wow... just wow... the body FELT good... it was just oiled... and it sounded good it was a fretted 4 string, but it felt great and i loved the natural look of it...

Heres what ive decided on

Deluxe Jbass 5 Body Walnut - $235

Birdseye Maple + Pao Ferro Neck + Tele head - $224 + $45 for Fretless lines... +$45 for Walnut Peghead Veneer so $314 all together for the neck... (im going to have them not cut any inlays in, because im having manella put in Gold Block Inlays)

now im exactly sure what Pups im going to get... Im thinking maybe a soap at the bridge and a J at the neck.

They dont sell single Neck J's in the model im looking at which is the 57CBJD ($130)
Then the Soap Im looking at is the MM52CBJD3 Stingray Style ($140)

The Preamp is going to be Bartolini 5.3 A/p (2 Pups, 1 Switch, 5 Knobs $145)
Vol/Vol/Treb/Mid/Bass/Midfreq

+19 for S&H
Im looking at $843 (+40 for labor at Manellas) if i go with just the Dual Js

and $983(+ $40 for labor) if get the MM style Humbucker...

and whatever the Oil for the Walnut Costs....

and i havent decided on a Bridge yet... but ive got a week to think about it... i do know im going GoLD hardware...

So it looks like im ripping of Victor Bailey... by accident...:thumb:

Back mounted, and its going to be power by 18 volts instead of just 9 as of now... theres no pickguard...

I had a good idea of cutting space into the body, and placing a light colored Wood Pickguard in it...

Im excited, and since im not going overboard with custom options it shouldnt take long to get here... infact he said the Pups would take longer...

the pups would take longer to get there? Warmoth must have REALLY slowed down. When I ordered my standard alder Jazz body (routed for Gotoh 206 bridge) it took about 3 months to arrive. That was last summer and they were really busy. If its going to take longer for the pickups to show up then they have slown down to a snail's pace

Where's the warning?

That Warmoth (and coincidentally USACG) parts are only made to fit MIA Fenders. MIM and CIJ have different heel/block dimensions.

Mahogany is considered to be an excellent body wood by most luthiers. My experience with it has been great, although I always have top and bottom tonewood over it. Walnut is also a great wood for bodys but weighs about twice what Mahogany does, so I like to use a hollow Mahogany core with 1/4 inch Walnut over it.

I find a heavier body to be better because I usually have neck-dive problems.

thats what "Spike" at Warmoth told him....

me and the other guy (he does electronics) were laughing hard when he said, "Who am i speaking to? Oh Spike? Hey Spike this is Dave"

Anyone know where i can get just the single J... looking at the single J's they show, its a little over half the price, and i only want one... hmm...

I reckon the bass is gonna look very similar to this... http://www.fender.com/products/prod_images/basses/0196600821_md.jpg

God... wouldnt the tele neck look killer... and the mahogany Veneer over the Maple HEadstock... i cant wait dude...
