Ok so I just refinished my snare as you might have guessed. Here are some pictures. It was originally with black wrap and red hoops/rims and lugs etc. (ddrum diablo snare) I will replace the hoops etc. with black ones as I have only sprayed these ones and the paint will chip very easily. Still I love it!
The original colour was blue, but I thought it looked too light and discusting! So I tried out verious stuff and ended up with the following.... Please note colour may vary due to camera flash...
Heads:
CS Dot REvers - Batter -
Evans Hazy 300 - Reso-

Dude, have you tried Highwood? They sell good inexpensive strainers. The deluxe Worldmax ones are good (If memory serves correctly).

And take the tape off too...

Try Highwood like BB suggested. Also FVF are pretty reliable.

Are those all new hoops or did you dip them?

Cheers for the link mate! I'm not going to take the tape off, only make it minimal because I like it how it sounds. I tuned it today souds AWESOME!!!

I sprayed them. But I'm sure they will chip soon, so I'm currently "in the market" for new ones, and a new strainer. My great nan, 93 God bless her, gave me £60 today... I was like no! Nan there's no need. But she insisted, so I feel some hoops coming soon! :)

Awesome thanks loads!
Cheers everyone for the compliments and links. Really helped! I'll update as soon as I buy some hoops, etc. I'm sure I'll be asking for advice too!
Cheers once more!

Problem Because I want a new strainer/throw off and the holes are predrilled, will I have to get the same size? Also same for the lugs..! Are the following strainers any good?...

I dunno if its just the camera fuzz but in some pics it looks like a blue glitter finish.

my bad, I mean like what type of paint (spray paint, etc.), not necessarily what color
ant_182

I used spray from "b & q". A Brittish hardware store...sort off. It was a blue (really light and horrible) so I added a coad of black and kept trying different things until I ended up with this, so the black may look like a glitter effect?

so it's just regular spray paint? Any gloss or anything?

Hold on, I'll just go see....
Yeh it's gloss black. But it was called "plasti-kote" spray paint.
Why?

EDIT: Here's a picture...
