Yeah Elvin...

The thing I find a little funny is his name written on the back of his t-shirt. I couldn't walk around with my name written on my t-shirt or even my band's name.

I remember one time I saw a video of Billy Cobham where he had a mirror above his drumset so you could see what he was doing.

Yeah, it is more fun and even educational (for drummers) but I couldn't do it even if I had the skills Billy has.

Hmm while i have great respect for elvin, I find that video to not be a very good representation of his abbilities.

Ya'll should peep out Mr. Clayton Cameron... that guys has some incredible brush skills.

Ed Thigpen as well. I believe he wrote a book regarding brush technique.

Max Roach also had some nice brush work.

Agreed that solo was played too much like a stick solo I like to see smoother phrasing when playing with brushes(which I've heard Elvin do on his recordings)

Other great brushmasters are Papa Jo Jones and Max Roach(talk about chops with brushes)
