Like...

Hmmm...

You could be playing Dub, Ska, Rock Steady...

Well I mean they're not REGGAE but It's hard to really just get Reggae.

Like Sly and Robbie are reggae, but sometimes tehres a smash sounding type of snare,

Other times you want a nice high pitched crack with a lot of overtones.

Maybe you just want a good diverse snare.

I know.

I'm just saying, theres a lot of different snare sounds WITHIN that genre.

Lol I wasn't questioning your knowledge of what you're playing ;).

I respect your choice in music ;).

Reggae is the shiz.

Reggae is indeed the shiz

I reckon a black panther 5x14 brass snare would do good, cranked nice and high to give off a metallic pop.

brass it the ultimate drummers snare - well rounded for most situations

IMO, if you're going to splurge on something on your kit besides your cymbals, it should be your snare. its the sound that most "you", and its what most people hear when you drum!

but yeah, brass is the ultimate drummer's snare! and what better brass snare than a nice Black Panther Brass Snare? its worth every cent (unless its an absurd amount)!

just curious, why haven't you guys recommend maple snares or piccolos ?

I was going to recommend a piccolo but I consider them more aux snares.

why aux snare?

iirc there's a guy who uses a piccolo as a main snare here!

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it, I just prefer them as an aux than a main.
