Some part of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence by dream theater is very epic. And some will flame or whatever, but I think Strenght of the world by Avenged Sevenfold is pretty epic, both intro and outros.

Apocalyptic Raids

Intros
Possessed - The Exorcist
Mercyful Fate - The Oath, Into The Coven
Municipal Waste - Born To Party
Slayer - Hell Awaits

The piano intro to "Phobophile" by Cryptopsy is secks, though it probably isn't epic.

Intro to "Hearts Alive" by Mastodon.
The outro to "Demon of the Fall"? I find it pretty moving.

Summoning intros AND outros. Just listen to Distant Flame Before The Sun and Oath Bound. Those guys know how to go out with a bang.

A Distant Flame before the Sun and Rhun have the same melodies (Rhuns melody is the Distant Flame outro), I think have already mentioned this though. :)

Nepenthe
05-30-2006, 11:59 PM
Yeah, I think you have

The time is a bit different on the two though I believe. Either way, it's an epic as hell melody.

Silenius
05-31-2006, 12:00 AM
Yeah, and when mixed with the samples of "Now behold the awful price of treason" and "through dreams I influence mankind" and you have a eargasm.

Nepenthe

Dream Theater - A Change Of Seasons
Both the intro and outro are awesomely epic (probably because they're the same thing).

Dream Evil - Made Of Metal
Incredibly cheesy but the intro is undeniably epic.

Symphony X - The Odyssey
Also pretty cheesy but the intro definitely has that epic "at sea" kind of feel

Symphony X - The Divine Wings Of Tragedy
The choirs in the intro just set this really epic mood.

Iced Earth - Angel's Holocaust
Same as TDWOT only with backing percussion and guitars.

Iced Earth - Travel In Stygian
The piano outro to this song really closes the song and the NOTSR album with a very powerful feel.

Apocalyptic Raids

Regarding comments made a few pages ago, I would concur with those who feel "Stairway to Heaven" is epic. Then again, I really like Zeppelin. Anywho, I feel (probably due more to the intro and length) that At The Gates' "Primal Breath" qualifies here.

Aren't Savage Garden a really unbelievably lame pop duo, the ones who wrote

I wanna stand with you on a mountain,
I wanna bathe with you in the sea.
I wanna lay like this forever,
Until the sky falls down over me.

Or am I thinking of someone else?
