so i wanna *FINALLY* take voice lessons.
i play guitar good enough but can't sing at all..
i wanna start out by doing like david gray, damien rice, howie day type stuff.
you know..a guy and his guitar..

what should i ask the gal about lessons.

she said,
"Lessons are usually once a week, although I do give the option of having them every other week. Lessons are $25, and they last half an hour. My basic lesson is this: warmup/review, technical exercises and then for the remainder of the lesson we'll work on a song or two."

what do you think?

thanks

Cool, sounds good to me, I'd love to take voice lessons, I think I will once I get a job and some money :)

Go for it

Nothing new in what she said.. It's the basic vocal lesson that pretty much any vocal teacher uses.

You could ask her about good techniques for learning to play the guitar and singing at the same time.. Some may say that's easy etc. etc. - but it actually isn't, as many people tend to loose control of either the guitar or the voice, they fail in keeping the tempo and make flaws they normally wouldn't.

I know people who sing damn wonderful and play guitar god damn excellent.. But when they attempt to combine the two 'instruments', it is god aweful.
Of course, it does come with practice - but she might know techniques that will make it faster to learn it.

Ask for references, and then call them :) Ask what types of music she prefers, and what types of music her students usually sing. Ask about her training as a teacher (not just a singer).
