Good afternoon MXers,
I have a project due on thrusday and I need to find 4 songs about war, and the meaning behind them. So please be a pal and give me a hand here so I don't have to work, thanks.
Also, don't bother with One by Metallica, everybody else is already doing it.

Not sure about the meaning, but you need CCR - Run Through the Jungle

Check out some Nile songs. Not only are a few of them about war, but Professor Sanders kindly types out a short essay about the meaning of every song.
Most of them are about Pharoahs who kick blasphemous amounts of heiny, apparantly....

OK, you got:
'Holy Wars...The Punishment Due' by Megadeth which is about the first Gulf War
'Scud Attack' by Painkiller. Also about the first Gulf War.
'Angel Of Death' by Slayer. That's about Dr. Mengele, however....
well, that's pretty much all I can think of, for now.

Well, Sabaton has more than a few songs about WWII. Primo Victoria and Panzer Battallion for example.

Maybe Neil Young - Ohio? It's a Vietnam related song about a shooting at a protest.

American Idiot- it's about the iraq war! lolz.
Joking, but seriously try some real punk bands, cause their more likely to have seriously thought provoking lyrics

You can find a million vietnam protest songs, like Your Flag Decail Won't Get You Into Heaven Any More (John Prine) Who'll Stop the Rain and Fortunate Son (CCR) or Child in Time (Deep Purple.) Plus tons of Maiden, the Trooper and Aces High have been mentioned, but theres also Die With Your Boots On and Paschendale are great choices too. I know Paschendale is about a WWI battle of the same name.
You need some Turisas in your life son.

To those who said CSN&Y: Ohio, I wouldn't really class that as a song about war. It's a song about the shooting of four kids in Ohio (surprisingly) where there was not a war at the time, it isn't really ABOUT war.
Johnny Cash: Vietnam Talking Blues. A true story about him and the war in Vietnam.

War Ensemble by Slayer, it could cause some controversy:
Sport the war, war support
The sport is total war

Slayer's War Ensemble is great, because it talks about war as being a sport.
Also Slayer's Expendable Youth and Chemical Warfare.
Megadeth - Holy Wars...The Punishment Due
Megadeth - Take No Prisoners
GWAR - Bring Back the Bomb

The best song about war in general in my opinion is "One" by Metallica.
Iron Maiden has a ton, and theyre all good songs with historic meanings (The Trooper, Monstegur, Paschendale, Run to the Hills...)
but yeah id recommend "One." Epic song.

Well, Sabaton has more than a few songs about WWII. Primo Victoria and Panzer Battallion for example.
Yup. Primo Victoria in particular seems to be ideal for that school project.

I was going to comment on how people don't read past the first post anymore, but it appears they're not even reading past the first sentence which is even sadder.
The threadstarter has already said he finished the project. People need to stop listing songs.
Besides that, he already said not to suggest One - Metallica because everybody else in his class was doing that one.
And, for a bit of editorializing, Metallica suck anyway. Sabaton ftw.
