View Full Version : ITT: Screaming Pop-Punk
What are some more bands that are still pop-punk(y) and have some screaming, for example:
Senses Fail
Scary Kids Scaring Kids
Thrice
Just on the more hardcore side of PP, cause on that list, is all I can name, so please, post some more for Form(of)dark

I love love love Scary Kids Scaring Kids
With Broken Wings is also in this category, but not as good.
*agrees*
Scary Kids Scaring Kids are so badass. Amazing live show, too.
And while they recently kicked their singer, Bleed The Dream is one damn fine band. Also maybe look into Aiden. But definately look into both The Blood Brothers and He Is Legend. :thumb:

Check out The Reason, especially Reclaiming The Throne and A Timeless Classic, both of which are on their website. Great Canadian band.

Set Your Goals is Harcore influenced pop-punk (but somehow not popcore, amazing). I'm pretty sure that it could fit here.
Angry Balled Fists!
05-27-2006, 11:51 AM
But set your goals is influenced by proper hardcore, most of these other bands are completley different.
And SYG doesn't have screaming :-/

Well....how about we just start suggesting Set Your Goals in every thread so people will stop listening to bad music? Good idea amirite or amirite?

I can't believe no one has said Emanuel! They are my favorite band of this type of pop-punk. Oh so good!
Firecracker
05-29-2006, 04:24 PM
Some screaming in pop-punk can be classified as emo.
Others in the less 'poppy' scenario would be called hardcore.
Sorry, i'm just practicing my classification.

Screaming in a song doesn't make something emo.
"Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken."
Emo is emotional hardcore. The "go-to" emo band: Saetia.
It's cool, though.

Thrice (some of their old stuff)
Story of the Year
I don't consider bands like Silverstein, Underoath, or Hawthorne Heights pop-punk. I see pop-punk as being fast and upbeat. for example Strung Out sounds nothing like underoath. I consider most of the mislabeled emo and screamo bands as popcore or post-emo.

Almost all the bands that you mentioned are more melodic hardcore sort-of band.

Since when is thrice pop punk?
the pop punk kids listen to them but they have so many metal riffs and some of their breakdowns are verging on hardcore.
It was just an example, I was looking for something like that, not everyone on this board listens to only pop-punk you know.
A Wilhelm Scream don't scream.

Yeah I don't think thrice belongs in this category anymore and neither do the blood brothers. Most of the bands I am aware of have already been mentioned.
