Yeah I'm thinking about getting a game (either for the computer or PS2) and I have in mind the type of game I'd like to get, but I don't know of a good title within the genre.

Basically, I want to get a game in either of these genres:

War (much more heavy on strategy and planning than the actual battling itself, and not ancient or medieval crap either, contemporary stuff)
City/nation simulation--like nationstate only more involved, more extensive and not silly.

Any help?

Well, it sounds like you want a real-time strategy game.

I happen to like this. Then again, I'm a huge Star Wars fan. (http://www.download.com/Star-Wars-Empire-at-War-demo/3000-7488_4-10492455.html?tag=lst-0-2)

I've heard that Command & Conquer is pretty good, as well. (http://www.download.com/Command-Conquer-demo/3000-7503_4-10229100.html?tag=pop)

On the other hand- Sim City is probably the best bang for your buck for that type of simulation.

Most games of that nature for the PS2 aren't set in a modern world, and therefore, you don't seem like you would like them. I would recommend Full Spectrum Warrior as a PS2 strategy, but it's slim pickings.

For City/Nation, look up the Civilization series.

P.S. I have a poster of your avatar in my room right next to the Batman version.

So something like Rome: Total War, only set in modern times?

He said no Ancient/Medieval stuff.

That game Supreme Commander looks really awesome. That might suit your needs.

Well, the only war game I like is the Brothers in Arms series. Maybe try that out?

Supreme Commander does look pretty sweet.

They're good games, but he really isn't looking for a FPS.

Oh, righto then.

Then I suggest buying Command & Conquer: First Decade :thumb:

Ah, well I'll keep my hopes up.

I haven't played an RTS in a long while.

Me neither.. the next game I wanna play is a 10 hour long war on the largest map in Supreme Commander.

Just imagine it.. the map they showed on the trailer and the e3 presentation was something like 1/16th the size of the largest map. I mean it'll take a couple hours just to find where the enemy is!

Haha, yeah I imagine so. That's insane though. It'll take you an hour to scroll across the screen to I bet.

Not with the way they have it set up! You can scroll out all the way with the mouse wheel, then click on any part of the map and scroll back in.

Oh yeah, I know about that, but if you did it the hard way, it probably would.
