well, here's my entry into the bounty of questions about this bass and the Aerodyne....
Really thinking about getting one of these : http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/FenderDeluxePBassSpecial4StringBass?sku=515201
really good looking and i'm sure are fantastically versatile, but i need to know one thing. When EQ is set to flat on a bass like this, does it sound like a passive P/J? or depending on the pan setting, a P-bass or just a bridge J-bass? i love the passive tones of Fenders and for me, versatility includes having those classics as an option, as well as all the other great sounds that i'm sure these make. they look like a good deal for what you get too. Thanks in advance.
edit: also, are these worth putting a new bridge on? i'm a fan of the Badass II, but if these MIM bridges aren't crappy, i won't bother.

They sell passive Deluxe P's (I'm actually going to buy one off a friend with a Badass II already on it), but if you want the active one, you might want to put in an active/passive switch

even with the eq flat, the active preamp will still color the tone and boost the signal as a whole. so it'll sound flat, but still not exactly like a passive

where? i couldn't find any on MF... i think that they've discontinued the passive ones. where can i find info on installing an active/passive switching system? is there a resource for it on here?

I have the passive version of that bass. They replaced it with the active one you show there.

no, the only thing that i really don't like about that bass are the color options, along with that hideous gold pickguard. i think that i'm gonna get it in red or pearl, and then change the color and the pickguard. i'd really like to do something Hoppus-esqe with it. I was thinking a hot pink or seafoam green with a white perloid pickguard. or maybe i'll just take off all the paint and make it look like it has a butterscotch finish (probably my favorite of all fender colors) and put a black pickguard on it.
also, anyone know about the passive/active switch? a search here didn't help, but maybe i'm using the wrong keywords.
