Don't worry about practicing the technique of double bass before playing beats. People will try to confuse you and tell you to practice with tools like a "metronome" and some book called "stick control". These so-called "tools" are just gimmicks.

play this as fast and as hard as you can:

C|x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-|
S|o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-|
B|oooooooooooooooo|

So pretty much the post above me is all sarcasm. Do the opposite

Rudiments are good to practice with your feet, remember to start everything slow and play with control.

So true, I hate people that try to confused people by telling them about these things, just play that as fast as you can and you will be good.

Get a metronome and the book "Stick Control". Practice those exercises to the metronome with your feet and your double bass skills will get good, fast.
Also, when you don't feel like doing exercises out of a book, try steady 16ths with your metronome. Play for about a minute starting at 45 bpm or so, then raise it 5 bpm after every minute. That'll help with edurance, control, and speed.

I'll hardcore kick you in the face if you just play stuff quick and fast lol. Go learn some technique, get some lessons, buy some books. It'll be a learning experience. It'll be fun.

I wouldn't try play hardcore. It will become very boring to you as you get better. If you like heavy stuff, try some other types of more challenging metal and hard rock...and always practice rudiments and book excercises...then I guarantee if you go to play hardcore, you won't want to play it anymore.

I was in that exact same place a few years back and wanted a double pedal really bad. Then I got one. I wasn't so impressed, because I expected to blast 16th's at 300bpm right away (and couldn't). I moved away from hardcore and tried playing along to other types of music...which I liked to play WAY better (ska-punk/core and some light progressive) because I could just be so much more creative than straight double bass and a tom roll here or there.

But if you still want to play just hardcore, don't be expecting to play any other type of music very well. :chug:

Practice and listen to all different types of music you can. If I were you I'd focus on hands and coordination before anything because when you get that then singles on your feet seem so easy.

Everyone needs to listen to David Sandstrom from Refused. He is an undeniably good drummer, and proof that hardcore drumming doesnt have to be two-step, skank beats, and breakdowns.

I was going to be sarcastic and then I was going to be helpful... but everyone in here has it under control.

Learn Jazz patterns for hands, play them with your feet. Flam-combos are good if you speed them up under accents on a bell.
