Hey all, I need some help. I've been trying to record some bass parts but no matter at what volume I have it set at, I get a distorted tone with lots of hiss. I've tried plugging the bass directly into the comp as well as passing it through my Zoom 506II, but its just the same. I can record keyboard and guitar parts without trouble, it's only when I try recording bass that I get this problem.

My soundcard is an EMU 0404 and I'm using Cubase to record. I've already checked the input levels and they are no where near to max. What can be wrong, could it be the soundcard is not working properly?

On a side note, whenever I play Grand Prix 4 the sound also gets disorted in a very similar fashion.

Thanks.

You say at whatever volume you have it at.

Is this the volume on the actual bass or the volume on the recording software/mic input?

Both, it really doesn't matter if I alter the bass' volume or the input volume. The sound is just distorted.
