I Just polished my cymbals. I followed all the instructions on it. But as i polished it more and more, Black stuff started forming on the cymbal. Its a Traditional Istanbul Agop. So could it be that the Oxidised crap from the cymbal got stuck between the lathing grooves.?
Anyhow, i got some liquid soap and washed it all off so its nice and shiny now.
Also...why doesnt Cymbal cleaner work on Sheet metal cymbals?

It should do, make sure you use some form of cymbal protector on it now though, should work good.
might've just been dirt or something.

Silly billy, that's all the crap that comes out. You need to rub it down with a clean cloth afterwards, rub that stuff out and they'll blind yeh.

I followed all the instructions on it. But as i polished it more and more, Black stuff started forming on the cymbal. Could be just the dirt, but if the polish contains ammoniack you are actually dissolving a little bit of the cymbals surface (that also turns black).
In that case you are smoothing down the lathing grooves a bit. Repeated treatment will result in a "brilliant finish" type of cymbal with a slightly smoother sound.

Yeah my guess would have been the label rubbing off, but I guess it's the dirt. It's nothing to worry about I guess.

Or it's just the dirt.

You can polish your traditional cymbals all you want and they'll look good, but nowhere close to a brilliant finish.
