Im looking to buy a Who DVD and was wondering what would be the best one to get. I believe Ive seen 'Live at the Isle of Wight' mentioned on here before, but Ive read some reviews saying that 'The Kids are Alright' is better. I know there are a number of fans here, so I was would love to here your opinions on what is the best.

Leeds Leeds Leeds!
lol, is that even a DVD? I know it's a great album, so I'm just assuming here. You could always buy one of the album dvds, Quadrophenia or Tommy.

Resident Who fan here.
Live at Leeds is considered their best live work, but its only on CD.
For DVDs you have the Isle of Wight Festival from 1970, which heavily abridges Tommy (unfortunately). I just watched a good chuink of it an hour ago, good stuff.
There's the Kids Are Alright, which is like everything from 1965-1978. Lots of interviews and stuff, some neat performances you won't find anywhere else, like Pinball Wizard from Woodstock, Young Man Blues from some Opera House, and then the Shepparton shows w/ Baba O'Reilly and Won't Get Fooled Again. Until recently, with the release of the Rolling Stones Rock 'n Roll Circus (a show in 1968) it was the only place you can see The Who's performance there, where they play their mini-opera, A Quick One. Fantastic performance.
Live at the Albert Hall is a show from 2000, with John, Roger, and Pete, but no Keith as he's dead, but Zak Starkey replaces him on the drums. I've heard a good chunk of that off a CD, but not the DVD performance.

Isle of wight is a great dvd, my dads mate was there
The kids are alright is one of their best dvds, it has the famous keith moons exploding kick drum thing on it
Albert hall wasn't my favourite to be honest though i did like the paul weller bit when they played so sad about us.
Live at boston has their best tracks on but the performance was terrible while the paying was good.
Don't buy the dvd with their american gigs their american gigs were boring and for a stereotypical american audience, to many backup player and backup singers and a stupid ****ing percussion woman with a massive rack thing, it was not good at all.

Definitey get The Kids Are Alright first, it's such a great DVD for the Who's career and really includes some great performances from various time points. The Isle of Wight DVD is great, it has a fairly similar set list to that of Live at Leeds. However, the sound quality isn't outstaning at the Wight festival and the performance isn't as spectacular as the Leeds show. I really recommend getting Live at Leeds (the CD) before any Who DVDs though, because LaL is one of the greatest [live] albums ever.
I wouldn't start with any of the DVDs from the post-Moon era, although they are still good. The Royal Albert Hall performance is very solid, and the recently released Tommy and Quadrophenia DVD package is good overall. The band can still rock, but I feel it's better to start in their prime years, as in when Moon was still alive.

Kids are all right has alot on it. I cant remember which DVD it was, but one of them, Moon was horribly sloppy(probably because he was drunk and/or high).

Quadrophenia is what got me into the who and american soul music.
Tommy is okay once in a while but its not for everyone.
Moon was sloppy but theres no denying he was a brilliant showman and his drumming style was ace.
MOON THE LOON!!!!
The original band lineup was the best admittedly though.

The Kids Are Alright is amazing. Easily my favorite music DVD. You can't miss out on Live at Leeds, and IoW is good too. I don't like it as much, but it's still pretty decent. Sound quality isn't nearly as good, but it's still a good performance. I personally love the performances on TKAA, especially Sparks at Woodstock.

Even though from a technical standpoint, their Woodstock performance wasn't as par as their other shows (their drinks were spiked before they went on). However, the Woodstock version of See me Feel Me/Listening to You is easily my favorite Who song. Even though LaL and IoW are technically better, they don't have that driving forward motion.
