Star Wars is great. The originals were way beyond the new ones though. Clone Wars was sort of weak all around, and the characters in Phantom Menace were annoying. Revenge of the Sith was okay, but still had that sort of grasping for straws, check out those big explosions kind of feel.

KOTOR = One of the better games ever released. Definitely the best Star Wars, including Tie Fighter.
KOTOR II = Better than KOTOR in gameplay, but the story just kind of left you going "eh?".

Oh, and John Williams' scores are masterpieces of modern film music in their own right. A New Hope pretty much saved the world of film scoring from the depths of utter ****, or worse, ABBA.

So, I just watched some of Episode III a couple days ago. Anakin is a fag. Anyways, I heard this chick at school sat that there were going to be three more movies, taking place after Return of the Jedi. Is there some truth to this, or is it just total BS, as I suspect?

EDIT: I just saw the post w/ "STAR TREK IS BETTER"

The Next Generation was okay, but the rest, no. I mean, come on, how many Star Trek TV shows have there been? At least 3. Star Trek just got old. And it wasn't as good as Star Wars to begin with.

Are the DVD's of the actual original movies? Should I expect to have a movie called Star Wars instead of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope? That'd be fantastic if they are the original theatrical versions. There's so many mistakes and goofs in them, but that's part of the charm of them. Though, I do like the '95 editions that fixed up some visual errors and made the sound better.

Those are the copies I own. They should release those on DVD instead, after all they are the originals, and they digitally enhance EVERYTHING released for DVD anyways, so why not Star Wars?

Episode III will be hard to make better, as IMO it was a great film (definitally one of the best SW films). There were some problems with pace and stuff that could definitally make better if fixed, however.

Episode III will be hard to make better, as IMO it was a great film (definitally one of the best SW films). There were some problems with pace and stuff that could definitally make better if fixed, however.

I felt it was definitely the best of the Prequel Trilogy. The flaws I found in it I doubt could be fixed just by editing. Some of the scenes weren't quite executed as well as they could have been. I thought the acting was absolutely atrocious at times (the scene where Windu is killed by Anakin and Palpatine tries to play it off like an innocent man), but still not bad overall. The "NOOOOOO!" line at the end is rediculous. Overall, though, the dialogue was actually good. Lucas got the help from a playwriter, who did a little ghost writing for the script. You can definitely hear the difference in dialogue between III and II. "So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause." is a fantastic line.

Surtr

It's kind of funny in a way, though, because Luke yelps out an embarrasing "NOOOOOOOO!" at the end of The Empire Strikes Back after he finds out that Vader is his father. Perhaps Lucas was just trying to make the connection there?

Anybody think that a new X-Wing vs. TIE fighter game would be ****in sweet?

Especially with dx10 coming out and newer hardware.

I didn't have an internet connection when X-Wing vs TIE came out in 97. But my god the single player was some dogfighting fun.

It would be insane awesome.

I'd buy it for sure.

I'd obviously sit in my Tie fighter. But it'd have to be way better controls and such that what it's like in Space for Battlefront II.

It was intense once you remembered all the hotkeys for cockpit views.

Your A-Wing speeding through space with a TIE Interceptor on your back trying to evade him, and random ships, and random debris was some adrenaline rushes.

I need to get those limited edition DVDs of the original trilogy. They look sweet.

Should've been the DVD release in the first place.

S'ok, I just use the 2005 DVD release box as the Limited Edition DVD box now. Since the Limited Edition doesn't come with a freakin' box.

I've got Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi in it now.

The 2005 DVD's I'll keep in my closet, along with other DVDs/Games I'll never play again.

I have the pre-95 remastered tapes.

Those were nice until they just released the Limited Edition set.

Hey, did anyone else cry at the end of episode 3? There was a tear at the part when Obi Wan was like, "We were brothers, Anakin. I loved you." One of the few movies that could break me down like that.

Yes, that whole scene was, in my opinion, one of the most soulful scenes in all 6 episodes. It was just.....good. I don't remember if I shed a tear or not, but I remember feeling like I wanted to.

Empire Strikes Back is the best one.

I've watched them all again recently and they were so much better when I was a kid.

Truly compare:

C3-PO is no better then Jar Jar. Same schtick. Same campy moral cheese. Really.

Hayden Christiansen's acting is really no better then Mark Hamills.

All the scripts were horrid.

Ewoks vs Gungans. Need I say more?

meh, I find A New Hope to be overrated. The acting was pretty cheezy, probably the least 'professional' of all the movies (minus Alec Guiness, of course). There's some parts that make no sense in the dialouge or character interactions.

For example, when Luke goes and rescue Leia. He says something to the extent of "Hey, I'm Luke Skywalker, I'm here to rescue you. I've got Ben Kenobi with me."

Ben was the nickname given by the locals on Tatooine. Leia would have only known him by his actual name, Obi-Wan. She wouldn't know who 'Ben' was.

Also, when they blow up the TIE fighters after leaving the Death Star, she hugs Chewie. I honestly wouldn't see that happening, especially after she calls him a "Walking Carpet." I wouldn't be that comfortable after just meeting a wookie.

Return of the Jedi is more overrated than A New Hope, imo.

Are you joking me? I was just stating my opinion and I respect yours, so I had no real will to put your post to shame. Why such hostility? Anyway...

Return of the Jedi is usually considered a classic because it's part of the original trilogy, and I just don't really think it deserves being mentioned in the same sentence as the first two. The plot is pretty unimaginative. They already blew up the death star in the first one, so when they do it in ROTJ, it's not really interesting at all. It's just a rehash. The ewoks were a waste of time and just put in there to make more action figures. The only thing that is better than average in ROTJ is the final lightsaber battle between Luke and Vader with the Emperor looking on.

To me, A New Hope is a fantastic movie and little flaws like the ones you pointed out don't make the movie overrated at all. There's little flaws like that in plenty of classic movies. It's a very entertaining movie and the reason it seems "less professional" is because it didn't have a huge budget like the five Star Wars movies made after it. It has a simple story and the movie doesn't try to do too much. Great effects for the time. It's the introduction to the whole Star Wars universe. It has this great feeling to it because it truly makes you believe you are in that universe. It's fun to hear about the force being explained. It's exciting and most importantly, it's interesting. It's a classic. ROTJ is not a classic, it's just a subpar sequel.

I've never understood the problems people had with the Ewoks. I've always liked them.

I kinda agree on that Death Star part, but it would make sense that the Empire would try and build a second one, and thus fitting that the rebels would destroy it again. Plus its set up completely differently, with the shield and the "Its a trap!" and the fleet and flying into the superstructure.

Return of the Jedi has the best battle sequences ever. Mainly the space battle and the Luke/Vader dual was pretty badass. And the Emperor owning on Luke.
