View Full Version : Antidote (80's)

Just by listening to the originality and innovative style of this band, they played a huge part in the Hardcore-Punk development. The best part of it is, they are just so 80's Hardcore, it has such a "bad-***" feel listening to it. With songs like, "Life Is One," and, "Die At War," their anti-war, as well as other moral dilemmas, are clearly vivid. Their only EP, "Thou Shalt Not Kill," (7") came out in 1982! There were originally only 1,000 printed copies, however, now they have it on CD format, available to all.
Anyway, 8 tracks of pure Hardcore-Punk if that is your type of thing, and if not, which it isn't for me, it's a good historical lesson for Punk and Hardcore-Punk music fans alike.
I will share this on Soulseek if anyone is interested. Just mention it in this thread, or PM me at Anti-Prefix.

Does this band not have a connection to Chumbawamba? I some of their members use to be in this band.

They were a Hare Krishna band also. Eerie Von from the Misfits played drums on the EP.

This band is amazing. My favorite NYC band, and the most underrated hardcore band ever. Thou Shalt Not Kill is a classic EP that every punk fan should listen to.

Possibly the best hardcore/punk 7" of all time. Also, the production quality is amazing for something that came out that long ago. I can listen to this on repeat all day.

I know, I was particularly impressed with the recording, plus I love that abrasive style.

I'm still not big on this band. Pretty good for a hardcore band from New York though.

What is that supposed to mean?
New York has produced the best hardcore bands.
