Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked previously; unfortunately I'm struggling to find terms to properly define the solution I need.

Basically I have a mixer with two +4 dBU 1/4" balanced TRS outs as the primary output. My MTR has -10dBV 1/4" phone unbalanced inputs.

The mixer also has -10dBV RCA outs for recording - which I am currently using, and it's ok, but I'm just looking at the options of what I need to do in order to use the group outs on the mixer.

So what is needed in order to step-down the +4 dBU balanced line-level of the mixer to -10 dBV unbalanced for the MTR?

I had a look at the Rane Balance Buddy - but that's the wrong way, -10 up to +4.

If the MTR can take up to +6 on it's -10 inputs before clipping then is the 2 db overlap between that +6 ceiling on the inputs and +4 rated level on the output enough to just plug the +4 straight into the -10? I have a feeling that is a silly question :)

As I said - I have it working at the moment, using the -10 RCA outs on the mixer (though still trying to figure out why my MTR is only receiving mono), so I'm more curious as to interconnecting pro and consumer equipment than actually wanting to invest in a device to make the voltage conversion.
