View Full Version : removing digital peak distortion
I recorded a band in the studio the other day and when I brought the Pro Tools session home and soloed the Kick drum I noticed that the signal going into the board was a bit too hot, and in turn, giving off some peak distortion when the kick hits. What is the easiest way to remove slight peak distortion? I've tried low pass filters of all kinds and have had no such luck. Thanks.

Easiest? There isn't one.
Maybe you'll be able to take the wrong waveform and draw out the clips. Maybe.
Another option is sound replacer. Actually, that's probably the easiest thing now that I think of it.

Yeah, with digital, once you clip, you're clipped. The only easy ways to fix it will be:
A) Re-record the drum track
B) Use the current drum track to trigger a sequencer and record the output. (You may have to nudge the new track in time)
