I'm convinced dei is both the best and worst poster on the boards simultaneously. This would make him superior to God, as even God cannot create a contradiction. Bow down to dei, the Supergod.

I need sleep.

I think I remember him saying he likes the Decemberists or some **** like that.

/thread

I like music, but you guys don't talk about the music I like. I've made threads before on people/bands I think are cool but they don't really get replies for one of two reasons: (a) no one cares about them or (b) people hate me so much they would rather shove a guitar up their *** (body first) than make the view count go up on one of my threads.

You guys can talk **** about the stuff I like too, as long as you are willing to admit that I am never wrong.

Beulah is my favorite band right now. I'd tell you to go ahead and rip them apart, but that's not possible because they are perfection.

mmmmmm

buuut as far as modern Beatles-influenced bands go, Of Montreal and Olivia Tremor Control are better.

dood the old psychedelic stuff (not the new indie-dance stuff) puts up hella good competition against Beulah!

tracks one, two, 5, and 11 make that statement true.
but the other tracks, while not at all bad, leave the album vulnerable and imperfect.

dei is a good poster. You guys need to stop taking the internet so seriously. Who cares if one of your favourite bands gets ripped into, everyone listens to crap music.

The mere fact that a thread has been made about the guy means that he is inspiring discussion, which, if I'm not mistaken, is the goal of a forum.

I also enjoy The Acorn, but they're not great. Someone I know used to date someone in this band. I found out about them before whatever website reviewed their Blankets! EP.

I am so indie.

I've been playing Colleen's The Golden Morning Breaks a lot over my home stereo. Man, it's such an awesome album. You should probably pick it up.

Beulah is less into being all trippy and "experimental". the vocals are very similar, as you can tell that Beulah's singer, just like the singers of OM and OTC, has listened to the Beatles wayyyyy too much. not a bad thing though. it's a cool voice. a lot more based around catchy, simple rock/pop songwriting than OTC and OM as well (as i said at the beginning of this post, they go for a more trippy, arguabley pretentious style (although i don't find it to be pretentious:p)).

Hey guys I think Beulah and Of Montreal both suck

NMH and OTC ftw
i have the CD "In the Aeroplane over the Sea" by NMH. the songs "In the Aeroplane over the Sea" and "King of Carrot Flowers" are both awesome. everything else is boring and dry.

plus that CD's production is horrendous to my ears. the vocals' EQ and volume make my head feel like splitting open.
is this just a bad CD of theirs?

EDIT: Decemberists suck too.

Colin Meloy is one of my favorite songwriters. He's so nice too. I've not met him but I went to his solo show at the El Rey a while back and he's just so charismatic and stuff. He had us headbang to a Shirley Collins' cover.

But there is one problem: his more upbeat songs ("July, July!" and "Billy Liar" and others like it). Good thing there are only four in total. They're not bad songs but they definitely make the albums feel a little less than complete, which really aren't except Picaresque.

I've picked up some neat words from their songs, though, and use them whenever possible.
