i want to change my master tone control to a 3-position switch so that i can change the sound in the midlle of a song easily and know that im at the exact middle, i just wanted to make sure that it would work right, so that when its one way its got low boost on when its center its even and when its the other way its treble boost, this will work right?

it might....ummm....the only what I could think to make it work is to have 3 tone pots and have them all go into a DPDT on/on/on.

You don't want a rotary switch, you want a tone pot with a center detent.

btw a tone pot is usually all cut, rarely actually boosts.

You wont be able to have a trebel boost without some active circitry.

Never the less, this should be very easy to do with a SPDT on/off/on switch.

You'll need a:
SPDT on/off/on switch
A resistor with a value of your choise (I'd estimate about 100K ohms but it's up to you to experiment).
A 'tone killing' capacitor, either a Greenback or an MKT (I'd suggest about .47uF).

Wire it like this:

In the centre position, it'll be like your tone knob is on 10. In the up position it'll be like your tone knob on 5. And when fliped down it'll be like your tone knob on 0.
