I don't actually play with a pic but I think my bass would look very kool with a tortoise shell pickguard. The thing is I don't know how to get one on. I know I'd have to get holes drilled carefully but all the guards I've seen don't look like hey'll fit my bass. My bass is a T24 Washburn. Here's a pick of both to get an idea.

I know the guard above won't fit but that colour anyway. Thanx for any advice:thumb:

I doubt vvvvvvvvery much you can find a pickguard any colour at all to fit that bass haha.
YOu can buy the acrylic for scratchplates, but youd have to cut them to size and stuff yourself. if that helps..
you can find them on normal websites where youd buy spare parts.. i recall seeing some on stewmac.com

you can always buy blank pickguard material and make your own custom pickguards to fit
and you'll be able to get the color pickguard shown in blank material too... along with pretty much anyother color you can think of

Yeah i agree it is a lovly looking bass.. If the materials dont cost much go for it. If it ends up looking bad then atleast you tried something new.
If you do end up doing it though, post the pics on here. Itll be interesting to see how it looks with pickguard on it

I might get a ruff cut from the D&T departement of my school to get an idea, if it looked good I was thinking of going to Aurora Project.co.uk cause they've got some good stuff.

Even better, make a wooden pickguard for it. That would be hot.

Something in the style of what Moike Guitars does might suit it quite well.

what would look really cool would be a clear guard with black designs

If anything, a very small one near the neck and below the strings. Something very dark too, like bloodwood or purpleheart.

I've been having work experience in the local guitarshop this week and the owner started cutting me a tortoise one this morning. If I want to change it or get a better cut one then I'll use this one as a template. I had a go on a G&L bass (very nice) and restored a Fender musicmaster today.

I'm posting a new topic with pics of my bass and amp now for all to see....:thumb: pickguard looks OK, very different but the more I look, the more I like.
