Final Fantasy music is always great... except Final Fantasy X-2. Good stuff on it, but not the best by far.

I used to have a huge-*** collection, but when my mp3 player died, none of them were salvageable.

Metroid Prime soundtrack is really nice to listen to.

Quake and Quake II had pretty good soundtracks, cant forget the first Doom as well.

Most RPG's seem to have the best music imo.

My favorite soundtrack is Final Fantasy VI.

Ace Combat series has some awesome soundtracks, especially 4, 5, and Zero.

Xenogears, Star Ocean, the list goes on and on.:thumb:

As I've always preached, Final Fantasy is the ultimate in terms of video game music.

Some of the old 8-track SNES and Megadrive (Genesis) jingles were pretty wicked, but I've never been one to put much weight behind them.

Many of the more Americanised games like Halo, Medal of Honour, KOTOR, Madden etc don't really appeal to me in terms of music. I think the Japanese (and some European developers) have it down pat. Nobuo Uematsu is clearly my favourite (:p), but I also like Yasunori Mitsuda's work on the Xenosaga series and Chrono Trigger. Motoi Sakuraba is another I can't get enough of, his work on the Star Ocean series is beautiful. From what I've heard, the latest Dragon Quest game has some pretty nice music by Koichi Sugiyama, I really need to get that game. :(

Koji Kondo is my favorite game composer, he has the ability to craft the most brilliant and memorable melodies anywhere. The Zelda series shows off his work the best, I think. Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time's soundtracks are 2 of my favorite albums from any artist.

Command and Conquer music has always held a special place in my heart. As does most music associated with Sonic and Mario. Especially Mario.

A mate of mine has Need For Speed on the gamecube, if I remember correctly it has a nice list of artists too, I think I even hear a Kyuss song on there :)

agreed. even though you might not like a lot of it when you first start, after driving around to the songs for hours upon hours they grow on you and end up being a good mix

There's a QOTSA song on Need for Speed Underground 2, if that's what you're talking about.

I definitely prefer Kyuss, but hey, it's all good in the hood as the kids are saying.

I've always very much enjoyed the music from the Zelda series, especially Ocarina Of Time. Great stuff.

Metroid has some of the most relaxing music (especially Metroid Prime 1). Zelda Ocarina, Majora and Windwaker have also lots of cool music. (Lost Woods... aaaahhh....) and sometimes I can enjoy Mario too.
