First off, sorry for making another of these topics lol!

ok this is a fair read, so if you dont want to read all of it, just look at the specs/pics provided on the sites given and vote please. Any comments/ suggestions will be greatly appreciated...

Please read this before voting!!!

I want a new drum kit! I'm looking for a higher-end kit that has good sound quality and is just nice overall. I have about £900 to spend, but, as you can see with the options i've given, I am willing to save up longer and extend my budget if it will be worth it.

At the moment I have a Pearl EXP drum kit. I'm fine with my cymbals as they are for the moment.

For the record, I dont really care too much if it's second hand (as long as its good condition) and I dont really mind saving up for the pricier kits on the list.

I've looked into this a lot and these are the kits that have interested me:

1) Pearl Masters BRX kit (12"x9" tom, 14"x14" floor tom, 20"x18" bass drum)
RRP £1,479
LDC Special £949 - includes holders, adaptors and free set of heads!
(no picture with this one)

Pros: Not too much over budget, I've heard good things about Pearl Masters kits
Cons: Only 2 toms and no snare, no picture supplied

2) Pearl MMX in Black Lacquer with 100% Maple Shells.
Shell pack comprising of 20" x 16" Bass Drum 10" x 9", 12" x 10", 13"x 11" Toms and 14" x 11" Floor Tom including all mounts. (Now Including Rack!)

Kit is here (scroll down to find it) (http://www.electromusic.co.uk/drums/en-gb/dept_419.html)

The Retail of this kit new is £2400, second hand for £1,100

Pros: again, Pearl Masters is apparantly really good, extra tom, rack, seems to be a good price for what it is.
Cons: No snare, second hand (although it seems to be in very good quality)

3) Mapex Orion
Coffee Burst - 22x18 12x8 16x16floor includes holder for 12 tom
£1,000!

Mapex orion (http://www.soundattak.co.uk/productdetail.asp?ID=1055&sectID=93&catID=143&parentID=86&sort=)

Pros: Heard good things about the Orion
Cons: Only 2 toms and no snare

4) Mapex Saturn

Lazer Black - 24" and 22" bass drums 10" 12" 13" 14" 18f 14x6.5 snare
Was £2,239
Sale price £1,550!

Mapex Saturn (http://www.soundattak.co.uk/productdetail.asp?ID=1390&sectID=93&catID=143&parentID=86&sort=)

Pros: Loads of drums! I wouldn't mind having an extra tom, and this comes with two! Actually includes a snare drum. Has 2 bass drums, but I have no need for two (I dont think) so I could probably sell one. Seems like very good value for money?
Cons: A bit more over my budget than the rest, unsure whether this is a high-end kit or if it's a decent kit at that... seems to be second hand, unsure if all the toms will fit on?? (maybe a stupid question)

5) Maple Absolute Nouveau Purple Pearl Fade WAS £1499 NOW £1299

Yamaha Kit (http://www.wembleydrumcentre.co.uk/index.php?fuseaction=shopping.details&pId=8632&cId=1)

Pros: Looks really nice, I can go down to Wembley and pick it up so no need to deliver, heard good things about them

Cons: Possibly doesn't come with a snare (although at Wembley I believe it was displayed with a matching snare. 2nd most expensive

Thats it!

I for one have the Pearl BRX and it is quite the kit with some proper tuning and heads. Make sure you look for deals! I got a 6 piece BRX for 900 bucks! (traded in my swingstar for 300 and only had to pay 600).

Yammy or Mapex.

Or Pearl.

But My list would go

Yammy. Mapex Orion, ( Or Saturn, each are different to their own ) than Pearl.

Although Pearl DOES have some nice stuff. IMO Yamaha > .

Plus the Yamaha is beautiful..

Premeirs are good too.

But I still stick to Yamaha.

Saturn is very high end, and you get a lot of **** for very little.

BUT STILL Yamaha.

Yamaha Ftw!

heck yes!!! When I asked my drum teacher about buying drums, he recommended yamaha over pretty much everything else. Sucks though, I accidentally clicked the vote for the mapex orion. =l

So far, in regards to what you guys have said, and what the guys from another forum have said, it's between the Yamaha, Pearl MMX and the Mapex Saturn for me.

Some guy also said that this was a good kit.

Um...my local samash...it was also a one in a million shot too since samash is known for ripping kids off... But i managed to come on a sale day as well as getting it used and as well as using a coupon and trading in my old kit. So basically I knocked it down from 1,300 to 600. Go me:p .

Even though the orion is a better kit the saturn is a better deal, so i voted saturn. from what i heard the bass drum sounds like heven (if heven was a great sounding bass drum)

Yamaha is where it's at. They make some pretty damn good kits, even their low end stuff is great.
