They're part of that new version of hardcore, it's like medio-core. :p

They're ooookay, they're annoying for some reason but slightly catchy, but then annoying again because of the guitars. So they're just an occasional listen for me so I can grasp the catchyness and not the guitars.

My fave song at the moment is "Fake Tales of San Francisco".
But to be honest, NME likes a whole heap of outlandish crap that I will probably never be able to appreciate. Case in point: Kasabian (apologies if I spelt it wrong). I just don't understand the big deal with those guys.

I don't see why many people on this forum hate the Arctic Monkeys, I rather enjoy them. Yes, they are overhyped, but they're not rancid like some say they are.

I rather enjoyed Despair in the Departure Longue on the EP, and disliked the title track, so

I don't like the Arctic Monkeys (AT ALL), but they certainly aren't horrible. When they first came out and I heard them, I was like "GOD THIS SUCKS," but if they were some band from my town where I knew the singer, I wouldn't hate it or anything. It isn't my cup of tea, but the hatred comes from all the hype, not the music. Bands like Franz Ferdinand, etc., those are the bands I hear and hate no matter what kind of hype exists. The Arctic Monkeys at least seem to know how to rock without being too terribly lame or stupid about it.

Arctic Monkeys are a great band. The only problem is, everytime a hot new British band pop up on the radar the ****ing NME bleeds them dry and print their name on every page. Then later on they'll find a new band and do the same with them. That's why a lot of people aren't really into the Arctic Monkeys or even The Libertines for that matter. Sorry about this post people because it's a bit of a rant but......is NME run by retarted Monkeys or something?

Well the're from the Rotherham/Sheffield area which is about 30 mins from me and i really like them, Alex Turner writes good lyrics and his band produce good music, to be fair you cant really knock them if they had the fastest selling album in the uk at 1 point, songs like "The View From The Afternoon" and "I Bet That You Look Good On The Dance Floor" are really good, i know people who listen to constant rap and hip/hop which also love this band which is a good sign, i think they could make Indie and Alternative music a lot more popular with the younger generation now, some of thier unreleased tracks are great e.g. "Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts" its the kind of thing that people are slowly gettin used to know so good luck to them and i hope their next album has even greater success then the previous.

They were called 'a chain-smoking, British Jane's Addiction', but their album has a cool theme to it.. If you listen to the whole thing, it kind of sounds like the experiences have through a night out on the town with your friends, a post-teenage angst mixed with longing for the idea of a girl you could never be with, envy for those who can, pity for the people who'll never understand, and self doubt, the idea that maybe you could just be full of **** and full of yourself, all wrapped in this hatred of your British surroundings, your parents, your friends, your enemies..

Great lyrics some nice musicinaship considering their most experienced musician Matt Helder has been playing only 3 years. Couple that with the fact that they write fun catchy tunes and I think any arguemnt against that WPSIATWIAN isn't a good album is, well, bollocks really.

No because I'm sick of having to justify why I like this band. I'm not suggesting there the be all and end all of indie & alt music, they made an excellent debut yet I think some people just hate on 'em as it's the "in" thing to do.
